Prince George, B.C. -   Fort George Park will be  busy with activity today as the annual Canada Day Celebrations  are set  to start at  11:00 this morning, and  wrap up at 7:00 this evening.

In addition to the concessions  (always a favourite), there will be  music and dancing on stage.  From  Line dancers through to the many ethnic  groups in Prince George,  you will be able to see  traditional dance from Japan, Scotland,  Africa,  the Phillipines,  India,   Mexico and of course, the  First Nations Rainbow Dancers.

Not only will the stage be busy, there is also  the  Cottonwoods Mini rail Train,   a glider display   by the  Royal Canadian Air Cadets,  Medieval Knights courtesy of the Shire of Cold Keep Medieval Club,  and the Northern Health Bus will be on display.

Don't forget,  one of the highlights of the day is the announcement of the  nominees for the Citizen of the Year  competition.

Tonight at eleven,  the July 1st   Fireworks  display will take place at the CN Centre's Exhibition  Grounds.  The  fireworks will be  synchronized to music  being played  on 97.3 FM, th Wolf.

CN centre?? What's wrong with Connaught Hill whre it would be visible to most everyone. They keep changing the location, but they never get it right.
It's been at the exhibition grounds for some time now, if they have them.

I liked it when they were on the Fraser River cutbanks, accross from the park where the festivities were during the day. That makes the venue unique to PG.

I think putting them on Connaught Hill will be even better in that, as you say, it will allow people to spread out much more throughout the city's centre where there are plenty of parking lots/spots that are not used at that time of night.

In fact, they could encourage people to gather in more public places such as the Civic Centre and Veteran's Plaza. Remember, those are supposed to be gathering places for celebrations.
