Prince George, B.C. – The City Council for Prince George has a very busy agenda for this evening’s regular meeting.
The discussions will include the examination of the Downtown Business Improvement Association’s revised budget. (see separate story).
A report on new flood plain mapping will be presented. This plan will set new 200 year flood plain limits which will have an impact on construction in much of downtown Prince George. Council will be asked to start the public consultation process on this new flood plain mapping.
There will be a presentation from BC Hydro on the Site C dam project.
Council will discuss new provincial legislation which could take away a local government’s input on liquor licensing. Right now, the local government’s comments on some licensing is accepted by the Liquor licensing Board as the key to whether or not a license is granted.
Council will receive a report on a complaint about low water pressure to a strata development on Davis drive.
The Manager of Long Range Planning will present an update on the revisions to the Official Community Plan.
Council will be asked to add another $1,000 to the capital expenditure plan for the McMillan Creek Fishing Park project. The overall budget for the project, (mostly from donations and grants) is $114 thousand dollars.
Council will look at the proposed agenda for a trip to Jiangmen China in September. The trip would take 7 days ( including travel) be paid for with a special twin city grant, and the delegation would be comprised of the Mayor and two Councillors appointed by the Mayor.
The results of the alternate approval process on the removal of the George Street canopies will be presented to Council. The report indicates there were no objections to the plan.
