Prince George, B.C.- City Council of  Prince George  has given the green light to revise the Capital expenditure plan so the McMillan Creek Fishing Park can take advantage of a $1,000 donation and possibly a grant.

The concept of the McMillan Creek Fishing Park  started in 1999 when resident Ron Lind made a generous donation to the  City to see that a fishing park would be established at the confluence of McMillan Creek and the Nechako river.

Since then, the City has secured the necessary land and developed designs for the construction of a “destination” fishing park.

The park will have green space, a parking lot,  trail, lawn areas,  landscaping  and  the necessary on site amenities.

The park will provide both a riverfront amenity and an outdoor classroom where school groups and the general public can learn from an interpretive program that focuses on subjects such as fisheries values, watershed health, and riparian habitat.

While there is a budget to construct the Park,($113,000) there is an opportunity for an extra $1,000 from Terasen Gas, and possibly a $14 thousand dollar grant from the Home depot Canada Foundation and Evergreen. That would bring the total budget to $128 thousand dollars

There is no sence in having a pretty ending to the creek when the creek it self needs a whole lot of clean up. City Hall should know this, it smells, it is slimmy, and it is backed up so far with the beaver dams, just clean it up and then make the park, quit spending our tax money on pretty plants that no one can enjoy.
