Prince George, B.C.- The temperature will start to climb today and will settle around the 30 degree mark. Expect more of the same right through the weekend, with a minor cool down to 26 degrees on Monday.

The scorcher ahead of us has the Prince George Fire Centre urging us all to use extreme caution with campfires.

"Government is doing everything possible to protect people and property, but we can't do it alone," said Forests and Range Minister Pat Bell. "We need everyone's help to prevent fires and ensure our resources are not unnecessarily diverted."

The fire danger rating is currently moderate to high across most of the Prince George Fire Centre, with areas of extreme hazard near Fort St. John and Dawson Creek. The risk of wildfire is expected to increase as higher temperatures and lower humidity dry out the forest.

The public is also reminded that open burning prohibitions are in place across the Prince George Fire Centre. All fires larger than a half-metre wide and a half-metre high are prohibited. Breaking a ban can result in a $345 fine.

This season, crews in the Prince George Fire Centre have responded to 149 wildfires, of which 112 were human-caused. Anyone who causes a wildfire though arson or recklessness can be fined up to $1 million or spend three years in prison.

Thirty-five years after metric conversion, do we still need to have temperatures expressed in Fahrenhiet to understand whether we are comfortable? A sad commentary on our independece from American influence.
Yes, folks. Thirty degrees Celsius is uncomfortable on any scale.

I'm SummerSoul and this is just SummerSoul's opinion.
The article doesn't say ANYTHING about Fahrenheit. And if you are referring to the fact the little picture of the thermometer is dual scale then just ignore the confusing numbers on the other side! :)
Most Canadians who had to change from F to C know both!
Most.....but not all. besides Canada has truly never fully converted and likely never will. We all still by 2x4's and 4x8 sheets of plywood. Purchase flooring by the sq. foot, and paint by the gallon. Canadians are generally described as 6 feet tall, and 150lbs not 1.8meters and 68Kg.

So how tall are you SummerSoul??
Hoe many feet in a litre?
How... (Doh!)
Glad summer is here. 13c and blowing wind isn't summer. Just hope for few or no fires.
I am afraid I am one of those who needs both sets of numbers..... for the most part I convert okay...but there are times the brain defies conversions....
I have -40 down just fine...
bring it on...lol
