I find it almost comical, in an unfunny sense, how PG always gets its national airtime in... always to the most negative of stories, even when they are untrue and have no connection to reality in these parts.

From Hedy Fry, to the 'Highway of Tears' (tying tourism to risky behavior unrelated to the highway), to last weeks radio station contests slamming PG, to the Formaldehyde formalities, to this weeks breaking news of a motorhome hijacking killer in our midst at the peak of Alaska highway tourism season... we sure know how to publicize the need to pass through this town and not stop with your doors unlocked if you're any kind of tourist that watches the news in any other part of Canada. In contrast what great PR we seem to get for attracting just the very kind of people we would like to move along.

I guess the new highly paid city PR guy is asleep at the wheel or maybe this is all part of the PG Byzantium policy to promote the city. Spend $15 million for the winter games to get a few minutes positive media... while at the same time we get all we can ever ask for in free negative media only when something really bad can be tied to this town and region.

Its almost comical how this city is portrayed in the national media to the rest of the country is all I'm saying. Yesterday we were front page news for all the wrong reasons once again.
