Amazing, Amazing , Amazing -Elton John Calls Prince George

It was a Class Act put on before a very classy crowd in a small city. That sums up the Elton John concert held Friday night in Prince George.

I don’t know how Glen Mikkelson and the group over at the CN Center pulled it off, that is another story in itself. It is important to say however that the promoters were on hand and couldn’t believe the kind of reception that Elton John received nor how the crowed reacted over 2 and three quarter hours of nonstop hits.

This concert and your attendance I am sure, contributed to making this event the most attended event ever held at the CN Center. Take a guess 6500, maybe 6700 people in attendance. The place was jammed.

The phone rang steady Saturday morning from people from all over the northern map talking about what a great time they had at the concert. As one show goer said, “It was great to be able to sit and watch this man play the piano without needing to have at least a pair of binoculars or a spotting scope to see who he was".

Most promoters will tell you that they are gun shy in coming to a small center like Prince George because of the inability to get the right set up. Now you might argue that the sound system was a bit loud, but that can be explained by the fact that the system usually is catering to a crowd of thirty, very often fifty thousand people. To reach the back of that venue it has to be loud.

I don’t know if Sir Elton makes the same comment at every stop he makes calling the community "amazing, amazing, amazing" I do hope it was for us alone.

The City can strut its stuff this weekend; it was class act in a class city before a class crowd. What more can you say?

I’m Meisner and that’s one man’s opinion.

I was lucky enough to be upgraded to front row by some guy that works for Elton. The show simply blew my mind. Elton actually seemed like he wanted to be in PG. Like it was not just some hick town and that the show actually meant something to him. He sounded great, looked great, and acted like a true professional. I'm so lucky to have been there and so was anyone else that was in attendance. Best show I've ever seen. Gonna be hard to top that one. Good on Glen and the CN Center staff for making that an unforgettable evening for the people of PG. Cheers.
I agree Gary, been to a lot of shows in Canada and this was by far the best. I have never seen a crowd give standing ovatiions after every song before and was very proud that we gave that to him. It felt more of a mutual admiration show rather than a performer demanding to acknowledged for their work. I have never seen a performer sign autographs either, was very suprised to see him take the time to do that. Great work from everybody involved!!

I agree, that was the best show I have ever seen as well. I was so proud of the crowd, they were as classy as Elton. Nothing will ever compare, in my opinion.
did he do the Bitch is Back?
Yes he sang Bitch is Back and there were cute Bitch t shirts for sale too.
There were a number of us, myself and many of my friends who attended this amazing amazing performance. One common denominator was that many of us were in tears because we were so touched by the fact that Sir Elton came here to PG in the first place. We all grew up with Elton John. The first album I bought with my allowance $ was Good Bye Yellow Brick Road. I was 9 years old. He has been in my life for 37 years. It can be pretty emotional when you finally meet an old friend like him after all these years of musical joy.
The real question is.....will Elton ever come back to P G
To me it sounded like he was.
Saturday Nghs alright for fighting!
Rumour has it Elton John and his entire entourage stayed at the Connaught Inn!
The concert on the 17th was his second in Kelowna. He seems to like small venues. SO chances are good if he stays active on the touring scene.
