CN Mainline To Re-Open This Evening

Prince George, B.C. -  CN Rail expects to have its mainline between Prince George and Jasper re-opened by approximately 10pm this evening...

Crews have been working all day to clear the route, after 16 fully-loaded coal cars left the tracks shortly after four this morning. (click here for previous story)

Company Spokesperson, Warren Chandler, says word on what caused the derailment could come as early as tomorrow.

Meantime, VIA Rail was forced to cancel its passenger service between Jasper and Prince Rupert today because its trains run on the same line.  A company spokesperson says passengers were offered bus service instead. 

Tomorrow, passengers will be offered bus service between Jasper and Prince George and rail service between Prince George and Prince Rupert.
