Let's Make Sure The Brain Children Of The Cancer Clinic Receive Recognition

There were a couple of people who failed to get a mention at the official ground breaking for the new Cancer Clinic in Prince George on Thursday.
Who ever got the Premier prepared for his speech didn’t drop a note into the talk, pointing out that two people who were front and center in getting the cancer clinic going, were none other than Dr Michelle Sutter and Dr Winston Bishop.
Dr Bishop has been the lone Oncologist in the city and Dr Sutter has preformed enough operations on women who had breast cancer to understand the importance of having such a facility here.
To their credit (and credit must be given were credit is due) the Northern Medical Society took the bull by the horns many years ago and shopped around for a model that would fit Prince George in a Cancer clinic.
They couldn’t use the Vancouver model and instead looked at small communities across Canada to see who had made the best strides with their efforts.
That credit goes to the likes of Dr Bert Kelly and a crew of doc’s, Bert being the spokesman for the group who fished all of that information out, and then spoon fed it to the politicians.
It is important to note that both Pat Bell and Shirley Bond acknowledge that both Sutter and Bishop were kingpins in the reason we got the clinic and it is important that everyone else in the region should know as well.
I’m Meisner and that’s one man’s’ opinion.

We all owe this great man more than a pat on the back from petty politicians.
To ignore his contribution to bringing this new centre to Prince George is a slap in his face.
