Suspicious Death Results in Manslaughter Charge

Prince George, B.C.- A 44 year old man has been charged with manslaughter in the death of  another man on Yew Street in Prince George.

Police were called to  the 1700 block of Yew Street last night, where they discovered the body of a 49 year old man.  Initially  this was  treated as a "suspicious death"  ( see previous story)

This afternoon, Provincial Regional Crown Counsel approved a charge of Manslaughter against Patrick Mathewsie 44 years old.

Mathewsie will be remanded in custody until his first court appearance on the morning of Wednesday August 4th, 2010.

Investigators have determined that both the accused and the victim were known to each other. Both males were known to the police, but have no gang affiliations.

The identity of the deceased in being still being withheld, pending notification of next of kin.
