Lytton, B.C.- The names of the pilot and co-pilot who died when their Conair water bomber crashed near Lytton on Saturday night have been released.
The pilot was 58 year old Tim Whiting of Langley, while the co-pilot was 36 year old Brian Tilley of Edmonton.
The cause of the crash is not yet known, and the investigation into this tragedy is being handled by the Federal Transportation Safety Board.
Flags at all Ministry of Forest offices will fly at half mast for the coming week to honour the two men.
Minister of Forests and Range Pat Bell has issued his condolences to the families of Tim Whiting and Brian Tilley:
"Fighting wildfires is inherently dangerous. This peril is matched only by the tremendous skill and bravery demonstrated every day by our firefighters and air crews.
"Tim Whiting and Brian Tilley displayed great courage and dedication to keeping British Columbians safe.
"I can only hope that the thoughts, prayers and outpouring of gratitude from British Columbians can provide their families and co-workers with some measure of comfort in their time of sorrow."
