Another Candidate for P.G.- Peace River Tory Nomination

Prince George, B.C. – There are now two people who have stepped forward to say they are in the running to be the next Federal Conservative candidate for the Prince George- Peace River riding.
Bob Zimmer, ( in photo at right courtesy EDA) the Secretary and CEO of the Conservative Electoral District Association (EDA) for the riding, has made it official he will be seeking the nomination. He will vacate his role with the Association until after the nomination meeting. Zimmer is 41 years old, was born in Dawson Creek, and lives in Fort St. John. He has been the past President of the Conservative Electoral District Association.
The other official name on the slate is that of Don Irwin. ( photo at left, courtesy EDA) He is a director with the EDA. He is a Ft. St. John City Councillor, serving his second term.
South Peace MLA Blair Lekstrom says at this point, he has no intention of seeking the nomination. “I want to focus on serving the people of my riding at the provincial level” says Lekstrom who stepped down from his position in the Provincial Cabinet and left the Provincial Liberal party ranks over the HST.
The Prince George-Peace River riding will need a new Conservative candidate as serving MP Jay Hill has announced he will not seek re-election.
It is expected the official lead up to the nomination meeting will start in September.
