Prince George, B.C.- To no surprise, the Air quality advisory in Prince George has been continued.

The level of particulates from wildfires in the Cariboo is to blame for the smoky hazy conditions in the City .

At 8 last night, the 24 hour rolling average for Pm10 was 248 micrograms in the BCR site.

The provincial air quality objective for fine particles, PM10, is 50 micrograms per cubic metre, averaged over 24 hours. The 24 hour PM10 rolling average was 73 µg/m3 at the Plaza 400 downtown, 84 µg/m3 at BCR and 76 µg/m3 at College Heights at 9 am this morning.

The provincial air quality objective for fine particles, PM2.5, is 25 micrograms per cubic metre, averaged over 24 hours. The 24 hour PM2.5 rolling average was 57 µg/m3 at the Plaza 400 downtown site and 52 µg/m3 at College Heights at 9 am this morning.

This condition is expected to continue until Saturday when showers are forecast.

Despite the heavy smoke in the area,  Northern Health  says there hasn't been any increase in people showing up at  the emergency department because of  breathing problems.

Can someone please explain to me how our tax dollars paying to have the city busses run for free will help with smoke from a forest fire?
Thanks
Well, when people are encouraged to take the bus they obviously don’t drive their cars and throw cigarette buts and crack pipes out the window. Voila, fewer fires are started and the air becomes cleaner.
Come on now, do we have to explain everything? Where are all the critical thinkers in here?

It is real obvious to me.

People who have to walk because they cannot afford cars or even bus fare, other than occasionally, will be able to ride buses for free so that they do not exert themselves during bad air days when there are warnings not to over exert yourself.
