Prince George, B.C. - The Uniform Gang Task Force along with Prince George RCMP had a successful weekend as the combined effort resulted in number of seizures, suspicious persons checks and arrests.

Members created 35 files as they made connections and gathered intelligence here in the Prince George area.

Among those files the GTF took 3 males into custody for Breach related Charges, evicted 14 Gang Associates or Drug Traffickers from local bars and restaurants and made 9 arrests for other various offenses.
The team assisted in an investigation with the local CFSEU and general duty members and attended a residence on 15th Avenue where they made a substantial seizure of 320 tabs of Ecstasy. Members also seized a Machete from the residence. The investigation is still ongoing at this time.

The Uniformed Gang Task Force attended a known crack shack in the 2200 block of Quince Street where they located a shotgun loaded with slugs. The crack shack was owned by a local gang and a number of people known to police were escorted out of the residence. As police were leaving the area, the local community showed a “Thumbs Up” showing their appreciation to the police for helping to shut down yet another crack shack and making their neighborhood a little safer.

While conducting vehicle checks the GTF located hidden compartments inside vehicles owned by gang members or their affiliates and seized two (2) hunting knives, one asp baton and one club.

The team also recognized a number of gang members and their associates in Prince George who are from the Lower Mainland indicating that the local gangs are all linked to other areas of the province.

The Prince George detachments Operations Officer, Inspector Chris Bomford states " We were very fortunate to have the presence and assistance of the Uniformed Gang Task Force in Prince George. Combined with initiatives from our local CSFEU members, North District Drug Section, and our Prince George Detachment members including Drug section, Crime Reduction Team, downtown enforcement and uniformed members, we were able to make a significant impact on gang related offenses.  Taking both drugs and weapons off our streets makes our streets and community a safer place to live.  We are working to strenghten our relationship with the Uniformed Gang Task Force and bring them back to Prince George on a regular basis to supplement and compliment our efforts to reduce crime in the Prince George area."
