Seen meteor shower tonight. Pretty cool. There will be another coming close by the Earth in 2029 comes back our way in 2036 which could hit us.
Well gus have you ever seen the information that the BC gov puts out that says 10 moose poached in your area in a loss of 40 to 50 moose in 5 years.
Based on that number, how many moose do you think would be around if we shut down cow/ calf season? Limeted entry was only supposed to last 10 years, and now 30 years later here we are.

If you know any one that does not hunt anymore have them put in for a cow draw.
Based on the info that the Goverment tells you,10 moosed saved in 1 area in a increase of 40 to 50 moose in 5 years.
Now that Campbell's stooge has refused to go forward on our petition, are we ready to recall our local MLAs?
What would we use for newspaper filler without Shirley Bond in her photo ops? And Pat Bell could go back to running his hamburger joints.
Bring it on!
You ever wondered which side of the fence you sit on?

If a Conservative/Republican doesn't like guns, he doesn't buy one.
If a Liberal/NDP/Democrat doesn't like guns, he wants all guns outlawed.

If a Conservative/Republican is a vegetarian, he doesn't eat meat.
If a Liberal/NDP/Democrat is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for everyone.

If a Conservative/Republican is homosexual, he quietly leads his life.
If a Liberal/NDP/Democrat is homosexual, he demands legislated respect.

If a Conservative/Republican is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.
A Liberal/NDP/Democrat wonders who is going to take care of him.

If a Conservative/Republican doesn't like a talk show host, he switches channels.
A Liberal/NDP/Democrat demands that those they don't like be shut down.

If a Conservative/Republican is a non-believer, he doesn't go to church.
A Liberal/NDP/Democratt non-believer wants any mention of God and religion silenced.

If a Conservative/Republican decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it.
A Liberal/NDP/Democrat demands that the rest of us pay for his.

If a Conservative/Republican reads this, he'll forward it so his friends can have a good laugh.
A Liberal/NDP/Democrat will delete it because he's "offended".

Purely for your enjoyment. No diatribes needed.

Enjoy your Fair weekend.
Good morning folks, hope yer weekend's a safe one.
Beware the panhandler that's going around asking for money. He asks if you're from Prince George then says he's out of propane and needs help. He was around last year too.

On Ben, well a lot of people were sued 13 years ago, I believe its a non story, Go get 'em Ben.

Oh yah those who think its okay to make a left hand turn and go right to the curb lane, wake up, its not okay, yer just showing yer lack of skill, same with the ones who have to go over the center line on curves.
It's a great camping weekend, just wish everyone would drive safe and sober.
Have fun.
I like your post RIP..............
RIP .... do you ever read what you cut and paste????

"If a Conservative/Republican doesn't like guns, he doesn't buy one."

Okay, all together now: "what country are we living in? CANADA!!! who would'a thunk, eh? :-)
===============================
How about:

If a Conservative/Religious Right doesn't like abortions, she wants abortions outlawed.

If a Liberal/NDP doesn't like abortions, she won't get one.
===============================

Pretty silly thing that you picked up there that you could not at least put a little effort into rewriting it for this country.
If a condervative/republican can't get elected honestly they lie lie lie until they are.........well you know the rest of the story!
Or we could try

If a Conservative/Religious Right doesn't like abortions, she will shoot those working in abortion clinics.

If a Liberal/NDP doesn't like abortions, she won't get one.

Truth hurts??????
And now you know why Conservatives want to keep their guns ...... :-)
Maybe we should go on like this all day on this all day and make it the normal "Free for all Friday" bitch session...

Or we could try something totally unheard of and post about the nice summer days we are continuing to have and how these are great times in this undiscovered city of ours.

Nice post to start us off Chris. Did not manage to get up for that last night. Now I have something to look forward to in 2036. :-)

Lol. All politicians lie, I dont care what party they are affiliated with.

Sooo I am not a real Conservative unless I shoot an abortion doctor (or support staff)? They never mention that at the rallies!

There are good comebacks available for that funny pro-Con post, but these are not examples.
Cons/republicans will talk of small government, low deficits, and personal freedoms. Then they will get elected and do the exact opposite of everything they pledge.
They never mention any of the other stuff at rallies either. The fact is, the killings occurred multiple times and they were from those who are anti-abortion.

Here is one from a year ago just as a reminder.

http://www.cnn.com/2009/CRIME/06/01/kansas.doctor.killed.charges
Surplus erased, into deficit before economy went south, largest government ever, largest deficits ever, debt back up..........way to go!
Gus. Thanks for saving me the time to reply to RIP.

I got a kick out of...If a Conservative/Republican is homosexual, he quietly leads his life.

That is unless he is a republican politician in which case he tries to hide his secret by verbal and legislative gay bashing..
So, BiBC, you feel this is a better one than the abortion one then?

"If a Conservative/Republican is homosexual, he quietly leads his life.
If a Liberal/NDP/Democrat is homosexual, he demands legislated respect."

Another contentious one in my mind. The comment is totally uncalled for in a country with a bill of rights which is the legislated respect that was required.

In reality, I feel that the post is very bigoted. It is posted with the notion of humour when I find that sort of humour offensive. So I upped the stakes a bit to get closer to the truth and then you, BiBC, cry foul. Just wanted to get you to that stage. Thanks ... :-)
So true kolberg.
govsux .....

World recession .... action taken by pumping money into the economy ... Canada comes out ahead of the race according to world economic watchers .... job well done ... soon back to paying off the debt ....

It is all in the way one looks at it gov ... :-)

Another hot weekend is on the way. Please obey all fire bans. Many thanks go out to the firefighters and admin staff trying to keep this province from totally going up in flames. Be safe!
A note of support, encouragement and compliments to Ben for taking the highroad professionally and not falling for the slimy reporting tactics of Citizen newspaper! I have seen the Citizen editors fall well below standards before but never made me as mad as i am now. They must be really squirming for readership now that Opinion 250 is competing so well ahead of them.
i applaud the law society for taking on such an active "voice" as Ben; it shows a real effort to advocate fairly for the public interest. Ben,congrats on your nomination to the Law society and keep up the good work!
I too compliment Ben for the reaction to the Citizen's tactic to sell papers by trying to be controversial, a tactic becoming all too common and becoming worse since the modern popular appeal of the tabloids.

As for the Law Society's "effort to advocate fairly for the public interest", I am not too sure of that. Although it is likely not the case, but such an action could be taken as an well intended tactic of such a body to get those who may oppose on side and into a corner of silence since the matters discussed would be in confidence.

But then Ben knew that and decided it would be proper for him to accept the nomination.
Given the amount of coverage on forest fires and the fact we ate smoke for days here in PG,could not believe I saw a woman ahead of me toss her 1/2 smoked cigarette out the window! You are an IDIOT.
To all the bicycle riders out there who complain about the dangers and risks we people in cars expose them to, here's a few rules of the road.
You aren't to travel against traffic,on the wrong side of the road-EVER.
Do not when bike lanes are clearly marked use the sidewalk and when you do use the sidewalk bowl through pedestrians because we can't walk as fast as you ride.
RED lights mean stop, for everyone, not blow through them or better yet go against the light on the wrong side of the road.
Take those ear buds out or turn the music down and you might just hear the horn honking behind you letting you know we are on the road as you drift over and then turn in front of us!!Then spew teenage attitude because we almost hit you-someone will hit you one day and leave your broken carcass in the road.WHAT?????
What a summer we are having. If it ended this week, I would asay we had a beautiful summer. Reminds me of summers in PG in the late 50's and 60's when I was a kid.

Reminicing last night about Ed Sullivan show(Best Talent Show ever) Carol Burnett. Red Skeleton. Good clean entertainment. How about Dog & Suds, CD Radios, Teddy's Drive In, Princess and Strand Theatres, Smiley's Cafe and Silver Spike and Shasta Cafe, Royal Produce, Kressge's, Lookout Drive-In on the cutbanks, Moonlight and Starlight Drive-Ins, pit parties behind the weigh scales on the Hart, fries and gravy at Netties Cafe on the Hart @ 2:00am in the morning or Chinese food at 3:00am on 6th Ave at the ??? Do you remember Krazy Willy's at the end of 1st Avenue near the Fraser River. 1976 I think?
What is the point in doing a Recall on our MLAs...all they have to do is get some corporation to file a lawsuit...and stall the recall until the lawsuit is finished??

When they go to raise the HST next year we should file suit and see what happens??
CEO - you made me smile this morning. The chinese food place on 6th was the Lotus Inn. How about the Happy Face at 9th and Victoria?... the trailer park by the CN bridge, drag them out in the spring drag them back after the river receded, Woolworth's . I think the drive in theate where Costco is was called the Startime. And the Moonlight, at what is now 5th and Foothills, driving down a gravel road to get there. Life was a lot less complicated back then.

Gus I never had a chance to respond to you response , to the BIG needle van that drives around my area looking for drug addicts to had out needles to. I think they need clean needles, but we do have a needle exchange. I think its a way to keep them in my area, what other areas have this van driveing around their area, what other citys other than P.G. have needle vans driveing around residential areas?? WE worked hard to get help with the hooker problem and it has been pretty good, but is comming back with a lot of new faces out there. Neighbours we have to keep phoneing the POLICE, get the JOHNS plate numbers, this sickness should not be going on in residential areas.
We went into deficit before the economy tanked, did we not?
RV owners who park in Walmart parking lots avoid the HST. That's a plus. Shopping is a different kettle of fish. Who wants to crap on anyone who can avoid that dreaded HST? Not me.
whatthe - thank you for filling in a couple of gaps for me. Of course, Chicken Noodle Soup Chinese style at the Lotus Inn. And, yes, it was the Startime Drive-in. Sneaking in a couple of extra passengers in the trunk of the car. And I also recall the Parkwood Mall location being build on our old garbage dump. The other one that comes to mind is the area off 1st Avenue between Tabor and Foothills on the right also being a garbage dump. Wonder what kinds of gases are still being given off those areas?
CEO. I think that you meant LLoyds Drive-In, which was across from Northland Chrysler.

If memory serves me right Crazy Willys was run by Ben Meisner.

The area between Highway 16 and Carrie Jane Gray park was called the Chinamens Slough. Chinese fellow had a pig farm there and picked up the slop from restaurants around town with a horse and buggy. (Pig feed)

Entering South Fort George on Queensway on the left once you passed the Slough was Daltons Farm. They delivered milk in glass bottles via horse and buggy.

The park in South Ft George at the end of Hamilton St. used to be a Sea Plane base, and had a lot of planes tied thier.

All the land below the graveyard to the river was farm land,(now trailer courts) with huge root houses, there was a slaughterhouse on the North East side where cattle were slaughtered, with the entrails thrown into the river for fish food.

Dont forget Roses Ice Cream which I beleive was on Second Ave. This company made ice cream, and orange crush, and serviced the area up to and including Pr Rupert.

Ice was cut each winter in the Fraser River and hauled to the CN ice houses, so that they could service Refrigerated Cars. In addition local stores buried this ice in sawdust, and this kept their storage space cool all summer.

And so it goes.

govsux ... I do not think so.

In either case, I do VERY much recall that there were tons of people calling for the government to get their projections right when they got some high surpluses and ended up paying down the debt rather than cutting taxes more than they did to try to adjust to what was really happening.

No matter what you do, there will be some people who will complain. Pay down the debt. Don't pay down the debt. Run a deficit. Don't run a deficit. Cut taxes. Increase user fees. Build, build, build. Don't put money into infrastructure ...... it is endless.

I go by results. I want a relatively healthy economy given that we are not cut off from the world, but are a trading nation.

So, it is the kind of indicators mentioned in this article that I am looking for. BTW, I am not a Conservative by a long stretch, so to me this is a non partisan issue. Our federal government did the right thing and I am proud to live in this country as a result!! I am not into witch hunting for witch hunting's sake.

Here is a bit of history of Canada's financial picture looked like up to 2006.

Headline January 28, 2009
Stimulus plan prompts first budget deficit in 11 years

There's your answer I think .....
I think everyone who is against the HST,can help by fighting this bullchit tax,by phoning the man who made the decision to stall the petitions from going to the legislature.(1-250-387-5305)His name is Craig James and he is the Acting Chief Electoral Officer.By phoning his office you can let them know how you feel about his decision, plus we would drive them nuts if they were flooded with phone calls, and in the process maybe get them to come clean about who put them up to this.Just a thought, about how people could feel involved in the fight against the HST.
"The other one that comes to mind is the area off 1st Avenue between Tabor and Foothills on the right also being a garbage dump. Wonder what kinds of gases are still being given off those areas?"

Methane. They had t put a venting system in shortly after they capped it with clay taken off the University Avenue going up the hill. That added weight and send more methane into the basements of houses on Claxton. There is a forced air perimeter ventilation system in place with vents poking out at the top of the hill.

The thing is actually quite unsightly. The CIty made an attempt at doing something a bit more positive in the way of a park there almost 10 years ago but failed at doing much more than seeding it with lupen.
CEO, wasn't the store at the (East) end of 1st Ave called Half-Whit Henry's?
"To all the bicycle riders out there who complain about the dangers and risks we people in cars expose them to, here's a few rules of the road.
You aren't to travel against traffic,on the wrong side of the road-EVER."

Try riding south down the Hart Highway to the John Hart Bridge with traffic. Let me know how that works out for you.....
Hey Palopu, thanks for the input. I do remember Rush Coal sales on 1st ave. Bob Dalton was my aunts brother. I do remember Lloyd's Drive-In, as they had those long trays that they put right inside your car from one window to the other with hooks on each end to suspend the trays.
There was another Drive-In famous for their milkshakes on Victoria St. across the street from Victoria Medical Building. Can't remember the name though. Was it Del's Drive In?
The Drive-In on Vitoria St. was called the Rainbow Drive-In. And yes it had the best milkshakes in town.
I know Lloyd's Drive-In had the best milkshakes way back when as I used to make them and still do. I could balance two of those long trays on each arm as I delivered frosted mugs full of rootbeer with the best hamburgers and foot long hotdogs you will ever find while the Purple People Eater played over the sound system.. The chips were made from local potatoes by Lloyd. The chicken in the basket was made with a half a chicken cooked on the stove in a huge pan and then frozen. When needed the half chicken was dipped in batter. They served the best hamburger steak ever, smothered in fried onions with real potatoe chips and coleslaw homemade on site with local produce. How would you like some desert? Homemade choc. cake or pies with soft Ice cream. Lloyd recently passed away. This is to you Lloyd and Vi, you had the best Drive-In ever and gave a lot of good times to a lot of people. I met my husband there and we have been married 47 years.

i like fishing what great days we are having !!i cant anymore due to health so maybee some of you cut and paste rebels should
There used to be a bottle depot behind the old Strand Theatre, and you culd get 25 cents for a dozen empty beer bottles. That was enough to get you into the Saturday afternoon matinee.

The depot eventually moved to first avenue and became Prince George Warehousing (Spruceland Terminals) next to McInnis Building supplies.

In those days you still had huge warehouses on first avenue that sold produce, and groceries. Ie; Slade and Stewart, Malkins, Kelly Douglas,

A kid could pick up a dozen or so newspapers at the Citizen after school and sell them on the street, or to business's and make a few bucks.

We had the bowling alley on third avenue, and you could get a job setting pins, for league bowling. I think the owner charged a quarter a game, and we got 5 cents a game.

You could make a coule of bucks, go to the silver spike and blow it all on hamburgers, fries, and pop. Then swagger home happier than clam.
I like the signs of wisdom I read n the highway... read one today that says 'Abortion kills a heart beat'... or another one that said "use salt to kill weeds'... I like reading those and wish we had more people that imparted wisdom from highway side signs, because a lot of messages get through on the road where people actually have a chance to ponder on the significance of any wisdom imparted for their benefit....
When I was a kid we use to watch movies from the Moonlite Drive In from our back porch for free... until it burnt down... I think a car crashed into the back of the screen one night and both went up in flames (they left the car like that for like 20-years). Then we used the area for dirt biking and played dirt bike tag practically every day in the old drive in lot. Can't do that anymore either... lol.
