No Comment? Really???

I am deeply flattered that the Citizen found it necessary to try and attract some readers with their free Thursday paper by trying to somehow trash my appointment to the BC Law Society.
Had the reporter or the Publisher, Hugh Nicholson ,who asked him to do the story, taken some time, as any normal reporter would do, they would have found several things.
One; the fact that I along with my employer CKPG were sued by Paul Ramsey was carried by the Province who also were sued on the same issue , The Vancouver Sun, The Prince George Citizen, BCTV, CKPG TV, and all of the radio stations in the area.
The libel of Paul Ramsey took place in the fall of 1997, nearly 13 years ago.
A good Reporter or Publisher would have also taken the time to see that Ben Meisner was a columnist for the Prince George Citizen at the time of action and continued to be for a further seven odd years.
As for my appointment being an embarrassment for the reigning Liberal Government, I pointed out to the Citizen reporter that Carole James, the Leader of the NDP in BC had written me a note to say that, “It is a rare day for me to say this government has made a choice I agree with, but in this case, I endorse and agree. Thank you for sharing your time with our province.” I again was amused that the Citizen did not contact her for comment but tried instead to reach former MLA Paul Ramsey who does not speak for the NDP and does not hold a seat in the Legislature and hasn’t for many years.
How come the Prince George Citizen didn't ask for information on the other five appointed benchers ?
Again, may I repeat, what I told the Citizen reporter. Section 19 (F) in the declaration says: Have you been involved in any controversy that has gone or is now likely to go to litigation or public review?
The Province looked at my declaration and decided that I was a good fit for the Law Society. If the Prince George Citizen has any questions regarding their choice, they should be addressed by the Province and not me as I have no way of knowing how they came to their decision, and that is what I tried to tell their reporter.
I'm Meisner
