New Evacuation Orders In Chilcotin

Williams Lake-   An evacuation order has been issued by Cariboo Regional District’s (CRD) Emergency Operations Centre in Williams Lake.  Because of the potential danger to life and health, the CRD issued the evacuation order for the following area:
 
  • Properties west of the junction of Stack Valley Road/Rosita-Meldrum Creek Fire Service Road (FSR) 100 and north of the Riske Creek Military Reserve west to White Pelican Park (south end of Stum Lake), north approximately 24 kilometres, east approximately 7 kilometres including Taharti Lake and then diagonally southeast to the commencement point.
 
Once residents receive an evacuation order:
·         Leave the area immediately
·         Follow the travel route provided and report to the Cariboo Regional District, Suite D, 180 North Third Avenue, Williams Lake, BC.
·         If you need transportation assistance from the area please advise the individual providing this notice or call 250-392-4283.
·         Close all windows and doors.
·         Shut off all gas and electrical appliances, other than refrigerators and freezers.
·         Close gates (latch) but do not lock.
·         Gather your family: take a neighbour or someone who needs help.
·         Take critical items (medicine, purse, wallet, and keys) only if they are immediately available.  Take pets in pet kennels or on leash.
·         Do not use more vehicles then you need.
·         Do not use the telephone unless you need emergency assistance.
 
Approximately eight structures, and 12 people are affected by this new order. The remaining area within the Meldrum Complex remains under evacuation alert.
