Our economic stimulus money at work. Roughly a dollar per capita being “invested” in attracting foreign investment. A better stimulus plan could be to stop wasting money and lower our taxes, or at least spend the money on some infrastructure that is beneficial to the people and investors.

Cheers

How much money are foreign Governments giving to their people to spend on attracting Canadians to invest in their Countrys, or are we to beleive that this is a one way street.

What a bunch of garbarge. Most of the people who are receiving this money couldnt get a shoe shine stand to locate at Third and George.

This is more about smooshing people than it is about investment. Much like all the feel good announcements lately, like the Twinning of the Simon Fraser, the Cancer Clinic, River Road, the near completion of the bridge at Endako.

The Government wants you to feel all warm and fuzzy so that you wont kick the hell out of them for bringing in the HST.

Dont be taken in.
Kind of like how in the past taxes went to build forestry camp sites and provincial camp sites that were free for anyone to stay at and they were all well maintained... now most forestry camp grounds are gone and the provincial ones are charging an arm and a leg semi privatized. The money shifted from building out and maintaining infrastructure everyone could use for free... to funding for tourism programs that create employment for the marketing industry with connections.
"to develop a multilingual foreign direct investment attraction materials"

Are there a few commas missing?

"$18,000 for an investment and retention toolbox"

"$26,300 to redesign its website and provide translation and training of economic development staff"

"$7,040 to develop a regional district asset mapping data base"

Where has this money been sitting and who is handing it out again? ICCI? Is this yet another new government department created to give us the perception of doing something constructive with our tax money?
