Prince George, B.C. -  The City of Williams Lake has issued a precautionary evacuation alert for a mainly industrial area within city limits.

The alert covers west of the Mackenzie Avenue Industrial Area and along Soda Creek Road to the city boundary.

There is no word yet from the Cariboo Regional District's Emergency Operations Centre as to how many homes and businesses this alert covers.

The City says, "This alert has been issued as a precaution to ensure that property owners/residents are adequately prepared in the event that wild fires within the Meldrum Complex cross the Fraser River."

It looks to me like the McLease Lake area has the most smoke... would be surprised if it crossed the Fraser though.
