Air Quality Advisory Cancelled

Prince George, B.C. – The Air quality advisory has been lifted for Prince George and Vanderhoof. The weekend weather has helped clear the airshed.
However, things could change at any time depending on the situation with the wildfires.
The provincial air quality objective for coarse particles, PM10, is 50 micrograms per cubic metre, averaged over 24 hours. In Prince George, the 24 hour PM10 rolling average was 24 µg/m3 at the Plaza 400 downtown, 27 µg/m3at BCR and not available College Heights at 8 a.m. this morning.
The provincial air quality objective for fine particles, PM2.5, is 25 micrograms per cubic metre, averaged over 24 hours. In Prince George, the 24 hour PM2.5 rolling average was 16 µg/m3 at the Plaza 400 downtown site and not available at College Heights at 8 a.m. this morning. In Vanderhoof, the 24 hour PM2.5 rolling average was 44 µg/m3 at9 a.m. this morning. Although the Vanderhoof values exceed the provincial objective hourly values, they are forecast to remain low throughout the day. There is a possibility of smoke moving back into region later this afternoon as the wind direction is forecast to change.
As it stands now, the cancellation of this advisory means the Free Fare for Clean Air , free transit rides will come to an end at midnight tonight.
