Dangerous Road Conditions In Pelican Lake Area
By 250 News
WILLIAMS LAKE,B.C. – The large, intense wildfires that have burned in the Pelican Lake area this summer have resulted in hazardous road conditions due to falling trees. Travellers in the Titetown, Pelican Lake and Pantage Lake Area should be aware of these hazardous road conditions. Drought and extreme wildfire behaviour have resulted in deep burning conditions. These conditions have weakened root systems of trees within the wildfire areas. As a consequence, trees are falling down throughout the fire area. The public is reminded to be extremely cautious when travelling in these areas. Travellers should drive at low speeds and expect fallen trees to block roadways. These conditions are expected to persist for the next several weeks. Although the recent cool, moist weather has been favourable for fire suppression and has aided fire crews in making good progress on containing these fires, the public is reminded that fire season is not yet over. Please continue to use extreme caution when travelling in front and back country areas.
