HST?
So why isn't our Upass rates following what the government promised students ?

http://www2.news.gov.bc.ca/news_releases_2009-2013/2010PREM0119-000675.htm
Thanks for the link. It says that "the Province will provide funding as required to ensure the U-Pass rate remains below $30 per month"

The last time I took a math class, $29.50 per month worked out to be 50 cents less than the promised $30.

So, I am not seeing the point lunarguy. Is there something else I am missing in the press release?
On re-reading the article above I notice that there are two figures shown:

"The U-Pass will increase $1.50 per month from $12.00 to $13.50. This is an increase of $6.00 per four‐month semester, from $48.00 to $54.00."
That is considerably less than the promised $30 max by the province.

Then it says "semester pass for ALL full time students .... $29.50/month"
So that would include elementary and secondary students, but also post secondary students.

So which is it for the post secondary students? Sounds like $13.50 per month not $29.50 per month.

City Communications Guy, where are you???
seems dirt cheap to me lunarguy... As a side note students are the whiniest group of people on the planet, you could pay them to go to school and they would complain that the wage was too low.
Makes sense, it pays for all the free ride days when were choking
Porter, good point.

There are a lot of people believe that the world owes them a living. They do not want to work, but expects that they deserve to have all the things that the hard working person has.

There are also a lot of hardworking persons out there that struggle to meet ends meet. But, they eventually do well.
Draw your own Conclusions.
Vancouver 1967, Bus Fare was a Dime, Minimum Wage was 1.50 an Hour .
It isn't the student's whining but just another example of the government promising something, not delivering on it, unless you live down South, as far as I am concerned. They make a big announcement, but then don't actually do it. Kind of like that Wood Innovation Centre. Been on the books for over 3 years now, and still only talk, but been announced at least 10 times.
The Prince George Transit website, with "up-to-date "information provided by BC Transit in Victoria, has just provided schedules and routes for service effective on September 07, 2010. Some routes have additional service and some routes return to service. Can any find the schedules and timetables for route 17 and 18????? by following the clear and easy instructions posted on the website ?

http://www.bctransit.com/regions/prg/
From the BC news release: "U-Pass rate remains below $30 per month or to enable new institutions to join the U-Pass BC program at existing rates."

From Opinion 250: "The U-Pass (which students at UNBC and the College of New Caledonia purchase as part of their student fees) will increase $1.50 per month from $12.00 to $13.50. This is an increase of $6.00 per four‐month semester, from $48.00 to $54.00"

Lunarguy, our rates are LESS THAN HALF what the province promised. What is the problem here? They are doing more than what they promised.
No route 17 or 18 ..... could they have been replaced by one or more other routes?

However, the map has 17 and 18 on it. The schedule uses 15 and 16 for the routes to UNBC
Have to recoup the loss from air quality days. Thanks Bates.
Cheers
Just how do they justify a 12.5% increase? What is it based on? Increased Carbon Tax? HST? Clean Energy Levy?
Well apparently I totally misread everything and stand corrected.
