Willow Creek Mine Job Fair Set

Prince George, BC – There will be plenty of job opportunities to explore at a special job fair coming up in Prince George.
On Thursday, September 9, and Friday, September 10th 2010, Ledcor Industries, will be seeking to fill nearly 150 positions for its Willow Creek mining project that was re-opened this June after lying dormant since 2007.
Western Coal’s Willow Creek metallurgical coal mine, is about 45 kilometres southwest of Chetwynd and has an expected life of 13 years. Peak productin is expected to be 1.7 million tonnes per year by late 2011.
“Ledcor’s job fair for Willow Creek is a strong signal that the resource sector is starting to ramp up in Northern BC,” said City Councillor Garth Frizzell, who is also CEO of Terra Cognita, operators of The Source employment resource centre. “We saw the interest earlier this year at Minerals North and now we are seeing that emerge as real opportunities for our work force.”
Willow Creek mine currently has over 160 employees and anticipates a workforce of more than 300 by 2011. Recent recruiting campaigns have shown a strong demand, with 1,100 applications coming in for positions at the mine and plant facilities.
“Ledcor is aggressively seeking skilled people with the right attitude and level of commitment, so that we can train and develop them for long term success within the mining industry,” said John Wild, Operations Managers, Ledcor Contractors. “We are also proud to be a contributor to the economic growth of the mining industry in Northeastern BC.”
Ledcor Industries is looking to hire employees to fill positions that include:
- Heavy Equipment Operators:dozer, excavator, grader, loader
- Truck Drivers (off highway)
- Blasters
- Drillers
- Servicemen
- Mechanics (heavy and light duty)
- Welders
The job fair is slated for September 9th and 10th at the Ramada Hotel in Prince George.
