B.C.'s Northern Capital, but not Forest Capital of B.C.

The City of Prince George has once again been passed over in its bid to be named "Forest Capital of B.C."...

The Association of B.C. Forest Professionals has announced the honour of the annual title has gone to Fort Nelson for 2006.  "Fort Nelson's bid was exceptional because of the broad base of support they received for their bid and the diverse range of activities they have planned to celebrate their connection to our forests,"  says Randy Trerise, ABCFP President.

Back in November, Prince George City Council endorsed a bid to go after the designation to coincide with this year's upcoming "Forest Expo" in the city.  At that time, the City's Manager of Environmental Services said a strong steering committee had been formed to submit the winning bid.

This is the second time Prince George has been over-looked, losing out back in 2004, as well.

This is a good time to remember that one name is self-proclaimed, the other is received through competition.

Which leads me to ask of the other prolific posters here whether they feel self-perception is more important than the perception of others?
Good question Owl. I am of the opinion that the perception or opinions of others are as or more important than what we perceive or think of ourselves. Percy
