OK I will start..George Street looks dreadful without the canopies.Just what we need, another eye sore.

One more...Old Town Farmer's Mkt packed up and left town very quickly. Is the new produce dept at Walmart a contibuting factor?

Have a great Friday everyone.
Watching Global news last night I see Shirley Bond has signed her fate. She is backing her boss 100%. She would rather side Gordo than look after her constituents and their concerns. Pack your bags Shirley, you like Bell are spineless. No pentions either! Just pack up and get out.
What else would you expect the liberal cabinet to do but show support for Campbell. Captain Campbell is taking the good ship liberal and crew all the way to the bottom. Of course he does not want a vote in the legislature on the HST. He would rather go to a referendum.
A successful referendum is almost an insurmountable task to win.
The liberal line that they did not do a good job explaining the HST. They did an excellent job. Industry will get 2 billion in tax cuts and the average Joe citizen will pick up the tab.
Here's hoping Zalm mobilizes his forces and recall campaigns begin.
Morning Everyone,

Anyone know what happened to the Old Town Farm Market next to The Brick?

I agree acrider54...it was interesting to see Shirley Bond's sheer arrogance on Global last night.
What she did was show total disregard for her constituents.
I have never been a fan,but that was over the top.
Bell,Bond, and Rustad have obviously chosen to align themselves with Campbell and commit political suicide, rather than listen to those who elected them.
They should have seen this coming, but I suppose they really didn't think B.C. would fight back to the extent it has.
They will be standing on the bow with Campbell, giving us the finger,as the ship goes to the bottom.
Sad really, when all they had to do was stick up for those who elected them and they may have survived.
I guess they really don't care.
Those fat pensions that Gordon Campbell was once against, and then changed his mind on later, must be looking pretty good right now.
Set for life.
Nice.
To buy this kind of loyalty, something is either very wrong,or Campbell really made it worth their while.
Sum total of a successful recall, which is not assured in any of the cases above is more family time followed by making in retirement more than a good portion of their current constituents do from their employment. Geez.
I think it's time the Liquor Control and Licensing Board pulled their collective heads out of the dark ages. I submit that they should permit BC restaurants to charge corkage fees, instead of trying to flog wine themselves at a criminal price.

This would free up a restaurant from having to carry so much stock, yet they would still make a profit by opening a bottle of wine that the customer brought with them...for a nominal corkage fee of $5.00 or so.

The only thing the restaurant would have to ensure is that the wine brought in was from an LCB store or a VQA wine outlet, and not Grandpa's personal hooch cellar.

I feel this would help give the restaurant industry a boost in customers, as the cost a dinner out would drop considerably for those that enjoy a tipple of fermented grape with their meals.

Just a thought.
I assumed that Old Town "Farmers" Market was American as their prices were only in antiquated American weights. No great loss.
The Liberals are suffering from Paul Nettleton Syndrome.... speak against Campbell ...Loose Your job..
The unfortunate part about Refenndum, Campbell can ignore the outcome...
and if there is a vote in parlaiment, I bet ti will be a show of hands of a standing vote and anyone who votes against Campbell will have a very miserable life, and he will see exactly who voted how... so don't expect much to happen , regardless... recall probably won't accomplish much either... I doubt Campbell will run again so let his party fall he gets his pension and others die at the altar...
I may be wrong but that is my thoughts...

The Long Gun Registry report by the RCMP. It had a lot of "facts" and figures showing how many long guns were used to commit crimes, including domestic homicides, but there is nothing I have heard about how many of these guns used illegally were actually on the long gun registry. I have asked for this info -- asked CBC amongst others, and received nothing. I would think it important to have that in evaluating a report.
The old town farmer's market died because of Campbell ....
We need another Casino according to a letter writer to a local newspaper today.
I had no problem registering my firearms. I had no problem paying a registration fee, but a renewal fee every few years, that I have a problem with.. when that happens, that is a money grab in my opinion.
I think handguns have been the weapon of choice for crimes...easier to hide... they are supposed to be registerd as well and a special permit to own them is needed. The criminals don't register their weapons, they smuggle them across the border or steal them so Is the registry needed? maybe not for that reason , but I can on the other hand understand where the police are coming from as well...
I wonder how the constituents in Gordon Campbell's riding view him. Would a recall there make sense? Would it pass or fail?
Good Day!

Any one tried yet the indoor paintball
here in P.G., which just opened ?
My kid and his friends had great time
playing there. Finally more options
for playing indoors.

The reason the liberal party, Campbell and his minions are so arrogant is because they have the Bilderbergs power and money backing them. He met with the group this spring, while his MLA's where pushing the bill that gave them the right to implement the HST. The Bilderbergs group agenda is to get rid of the middle class by imposing more and more new taxes, reducing the population to 500 thousand take over all governments and their resources and to have one world government run by the elites. These things have been attributed to conspiracy theories but how I see it is "It is happening before our eyes". Just look at what Campbell has handed over to them. We don't even know the half of it. We are in trouble and need to fight back and soon. They are winning because all they have bought the puppets we keep voting in to run our affairs.

Watch this video and make up your own minds.

baah, recall, baah

The recall legislation is not worth the ink or the paper it is written on. The only reason we have it is due to the noise made about previous indiscretions of our elected officials. The rub here is that it is virtually impossible to get a recall activated, the house still needs to approve it to go forward.

Do you really think any politician would vote for that action. That would be like you applying for your own job back.

Do your civic duty and vote. Just don't be a sheeple and vote for any of the triad: Lieberal, NDP, Conservative. Build a house of independents so the power is no longer centralized in the old guard. If they have to fight uphill all the way, they will have less opportunity to fill their pockets off our backs.

Someone once responded that having a house of independents would stall any bills due to infighting and divisive ideas. I say good, because that would place them in a position where the only legislation that can pass is good legislation. This would inhibit any ramrodding of legislation that does not benefit the people of the province but serves the political donors.
Some days it's difficult to see anything good about this podunk town & it's hillbilly population.

(Don't bother telling me to move - if I could I would)
I have no problems with this town weaksauce..
I have issues on what is happening in or too it though....
I lived here since 1972 and have no ideas of moving...
there are however a few people I wouldn't shed any tears over if they left...
and I don't think I am a hillbilly either, those must be the people who live across the street....but that is your opinion to make, and please don't move, your opinion is as valid as anyones....
Have a safe weekend all....
It is amazing how the CRTC can grant a license to Rogers for Dportsnet One and they will only have it available to viewrs in Quebec, Ontario, Newfoundlanf and New Brunswick.
How about all the other canadians that like to watch the Blue Jays, Canucks, Premier League Soccer.
When I was bored. . .

So I do shift work at the refinery and Tuesday this week I was bored sitting around the house. I have been stressed lately as well and felt irritated and tense. I thought about going for a run but my lungs are still recovering from the smoke and ash we experienced here. I wished I had a punching bag to release some tension, but I don't. As I sat around Tuesday, at around 11am I remembered a sign I see on my way to work every morning promoting a paintball business and thought "man that would be a great stress relief!" So I drove back towards work to find "Urban Combat Paintball" just minutes from my job, along PG Pulp Mill Road. I stepped inside the building and instantly felt some tension disappear as I could vision myself peeling off a few rounds of paintballs, and anyone who has played paintball knows what I am talking about haha. I was alone, but I just jumped in with another group and was instantly relieved of my stress as I maneuvered inside a camp netted court with an X7 in my hands. We moved on to a different court that featured TVs, computers and couches and played "capture the suit case," haha, so much fun. I ended off in their practice target room and got the target squirrel a few times. All in all, my Tuesday started off crappy and ended happy. To anyone who is feeling stress or just wants to get out and try something different and fun, hit up "Urban Combat Paintball". And yes it is indoor so don't worry about the crazy weather we get in PG to ruin an afternoon of fun. Well my PG paintball fans, see you out there :)

Lily
Two comments. After reading an article in the Citizen buried somewhere in the paper I had to snicker, guffaw, chuckle, chortle, laugh, and smile concerning the byline over the article in question. It concerned Stephane Dion. Seems he was in Mexico attending a "climate change" conference when he ate something that didn't agree with his intestinal tract. The byline read, "Dion as sick as a dog". Postmedia News reporter wrote it. The words Dion, dog, sick. Get it? The reporter must have been a denier with a clever sense of humour.
Same paper. A day later. Seems to me a certain large bookstore in Pine Centre (which I won't name) is aiming to raise $2800 dollars for Ron Brent elementary school in a campaign to raise $10 dollars per student to buy books for the library. Excuse me , but aren't our taxes supposed to be paying for these books? I hardly think that raising funds like this is right. What say you SD 57? New policy? Every school eventually gonna do this? Online gambling revenues late arriving? Maybe the Lieberals should just abolish school taxes and base it on a donation system. What a bunch of whacko ninnies at SD 57 to allow this and Victoria, well .......Grrrrr! What a disgusting province we are becoming.
Grrrrr! What a disgusting province we have become! Hey Lily are there any big political pictures out there to shoot at, if there is I'm sure there would be a line up all the way to town.
Did anyone else find is somewhat disturbing that all of the kids were bussed to and from their first day of school for and hour and a half of "meet and greet" at a cost of who knows how much in transportaion costs, etc.

I see it as a waste of time (mine and my kids) and money (again mine!).

Is there an intelligent reason for this or should I just continue to fume? LOL
Fiscal responsibility from a governmental agency such as a school board?
Give your head a shake.
Their only real job is to get elected.
The Words on his Gravestone "I was killed by a registered Gun", it was a legal Gun, would have been so much worse with an illegal one, it's all about renewal Fees ,keep the Money flowing .
On the subject of raising money for school library does anyone have a comparison of resources between the french and native schools compared to the others. Books, computers, athletics etc.
There has been some civil work taking place in the College Hts area. In the last couple of days I have noticed the quality of work between city and private contractors doing similar work. City workers much better quality.
RE: Civil work. Private vs City... SHOULD be much better quality when it takes twice the time.
Private vs City? Should be a no brainer. Contract? Finish it before you need to to save money and move onto another job. City? Ha ha ha. It's is called euphemistically, "making a career out of it". It's a union thing if ya didn't know.
@summersoul, you assumed incorrectly, the stores are BC based. Old Town 'Farm' Market , the store has (had) 3 locations - Kamloops, Kelowna and Prince George.

Any store closing is a great loss - there is less competition and the ones left can charge you even more.....
I am pleased that the crows have left my yard. Small birds have returned by the dozen! I did not realize how loud and obnoxious the crows were until they were gone. No more crows dive bombing the cats and small dogs! The addition of lovely, gentle sounds is welcome at all times.
What a glorious change!!!

Ha lol dive bombing man thats funny
Re:opinionated - George Street looks dreadful without the canopies.Just what we need, another eye sore.

OMG... removing the canopies from downtown was a baaaaaad idea. A very very very baaaad idea!

They should have rebuilt or repaired the ones they had. If you think the downtown core couldn't compete with the malls in town before this... just watch what happens now.

Rain, snow, hail, sleet... wjo wants to shop in THAT stuff?
Just what I pointed out, union better quality.
Liberal appointee axes second in command at Elections BC

The fiberals know they can't win the next election by law so they will fix the elections. Welcome to the third world folks. Bond Bell you are pearls.
Loki. Where do you get your information on **recall**

Here are a few excerpts from the Recall Process in BC.

APPROVAL IN PRINCIPLE

If the application is complete and meets the requirements of the Recall and Initiative Act, the Chief Electoral Officer notifies the applicant (the proponent), the Member (being recalled) and the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly that approval in principle has been granted and that a petition will be issued within seven days.

RECALL PETITION PERIOD

The proponent has 60 days from when the petition is issued to collect signatures. The proponent must collect signatures from 40 percent of the voters who were registered to vote in the Member's electoral district at the last election, and who are currently registered as voters in BC.

BY-ELECTION

If the verification process shows that sufficient valid signatures are on the petition and the financing requirements have been met by the proponent, the Member CEASES to hold office and a by-election must be called within 90 days. A recalled member can be a candidate in the by-election.

So Loki. I cannot find any information that indicates that the house has to approve a recall process for it to go forward. Please give us some indication as to where your information is coming from.

This HST and Recall Initiative business is complicated enough without people putting out uninformed information, which just further confuses things.

Have a nice day.
I am appalled at the sheer numbers of crows in this city. Why are we protecting this invasive and disgusting bird? The songbirds have literally been wiped out by the 'black bandits'. My area of town is over run with the damn things. The city should ask for volunteers to thin them out. It is legal to shoot a shotgun in city limits. CITY OF PRINCE GEORGE BYLAW NO. 3456 So let's go get some practise shooting live skeet. How about just raising your hand if you want to participate.
Regaring recall: It won't happen so forget about it.
Besides the crow how about the family cat. In the U.S. alone the family cat kills over one billion birds a year. Wonder what the effect is in PG.
