OCP Looking for More Public Input

Prince George, B.C.- Another round of public consultation is being planned for the development of the new official community plan for Prince George.
 
Surveys, both official and otherwise, have indicated improving air quality remains a high priority among those who responded.
 
The other issues are, in order of priority :
·         Improving Air quality
·         Emphasizing action with strong implementation tools
·         Enhancing the city through design
·         Supporting better solid waste management
·         Encouraging renewable energy & district energy systems
·         Supporting food & agriculture
·         Increasing affordable, accessible housing
·         Focusing growth downtown & in key neighbourhoods
·         Prioritizing walking, cycling & transit
 
During the previous public consultations, residents were asked to outline their favourite and not so favourite places.
 
Most favourite places fall into a few categories:
·         Peoples’ homes and neighbourhoods, especially College Heights, the Crescents, and the Hart
·         Parks with access to nature and recreation, with Forests for the World, Cottonwood Island Park and Fort George Park the most frequently mentioned locations
·         Recreational facilities such as the aquatic centre and the library
·         Downtown and shopping areas
 
Least favourite places fall into a few categories:
·         Unsafe, unattractive places: “the Hood”, Queensway, and downtown most often mentioned
·         Sources of poor environmental quality: pulp mills, landfill, and wastewater treatment plant
·         Areas with congestion
·         Poorly maintained roads
 
 
New meetings for public input will be coming up this month. All take place at City Hall (1100 Patricia Boulevard), 2nd Floor Conference Room:

This is dumb. The oil refinery doesn't make the grade for a source of poor air quality... lump it in with the pulp mills I guess?

I think they are far to vague and obtuse and like they are picking talking points to summarize into some kind of plan. It shows a lack of leadership and vision to not be able to recognize the clear strengths to be worked with, and then putting forward a plan to make it happen with the kind of input that gets buy in from all stakeholders.
I have a realy good plan. First fire the present planner and hire a new one
