Prince George, B.C. -  The search continues for a former Prince George resident and her partner, now eight days overdue from a planned hiking trip north of Pemberton.

Staff-Sergeant Steve LeClair says two commercial helicopters and one RCMP chopper have covered all the high alpine areas -- Cirque Peak, Gardiner Peak, Cassiope and Saxifrage Peaks, as well as Place Glacier.  He says the effort has now shifted to the drainages below the treeline, particularly the Peck Creek drainage from Peck Lake.

Former Prince George resident, Rachael Bagnall -- now a UBC medical student -- and Jonathan Jett set out on a planned three day hiking trip on Friday, September 4th...they were due to return on Monday, the 8th.  (click here, for previous story)

Staff-Sergeant LeClair says "We've had four precipitation systems move through since these people went hiking and two that were snow events -- that brought 10- to 15-centimetres of snow."  He says the weather made search efforts a bit challenging on Sunday, but yesterday was very good and today has been okay.

He admits, "Certainly the weather conditions are a big concern as time goes by (for the missing pair), this becomes a more dire circumstance and we're very concerned and we're doing everything we can with Search & Rescue in an effort to find these people."

Police remain in close contact with the Bagnall and Jette families.  LeClair says the families have advised that they are very appreciative of the work of the Search and Rescue teams and wanted to thank them for their efforts and dedication.
