New Deputy Sheriff Terry Fehr, accepts his badge from Superintendent Darcy Eggleston as A.G. Mike deJong applauds
Prince George, B.C.- There is a new Sheriff in town, to be exact, a new Deputy Sheriff, although he is no stranger to most Prince George residents.
Terry Fehr, who has spent more than 35 years in the RCMP and many of those years in this community, has retired from the red serge, and has taken on a new role as a Deputy Sheriff with the BC Sheriff's Services.
Attorney General Mike deJong was on hand to hear Fehr take his oath of office in front of BC Sheriff's Services Northern Region Superintendent Darcy Eggleston.
Fehr says his first real challenge is being approved to wear a gun.
The ceremony today at the Prince George Courthouse, also saw Attorney General Mike deJong deliver the "Inspector's" badge to Sheriff Inspector Steve Breitkreutz. The A.G. pointed out that the Sheriffs are to be thanked for their role in "quietly ensuring the important work of the court is carried out and that the accused is looked after."
deJong also presented a Justice of the Peace Certificate to Denise Moore, and a Deputy District Registrar's Certificate to Glenda Bennett.
"No matter if you come to work in a uniform or not, you are all members of a very important team"said deJong, "I want to take the time to say thank you for all your good work, and ask that you take time to remind yourselves and your co workers how important the work you do is, and how much your efforts are appreciated."
