Prince George, B.C.- The Public Commission on Legal Aid is holding hearings in Prince George today. The Commission is collecting information from the public and stakeholders on the future of Legal Aid.
Commissioner, Leonard Doust, Q.C. says the hearings are important to the overall success of the Public Commission. “One of the principal goals of the Pubic Commission is to engage the people of British Columbia regarding the future of legal aid in the province. Our visits to B.C. communities will provide important opportunities for the Public Commission to hear directly from individuals, community groups and justice system stakeholders. This input will be key to the development of a range of solutions-focused recommendations that I trust will contribute positively to the future shape of legal aid.”
The Commission is accepting both written  and expressions of interest to make in-person presentations.
In Prince George, the Commission hearings begin at 10:00 this morning and will end no later than 4:00 this afternoon. The hearings are taking place in room 208 of the Civic Centre.
You can visit the Commission’s website for more information on how to make a submission by clicking here.
Written submissions will be accepted until October 31st.

I'm not real happy about paying for anyones lawyer. For the folks who can't afford a lawyer; they should be able to defend themselves rather than the crown dictating the they must have a lawyer. Our rediculous justce system was falling apart the minute it was conceived.
