CNC students enjoy the final rays of summer sun while waiting for bus today

Prince George, B.C.-  Good-bye summer...

What a beautiful way to go out, with two days of golden sunshine.

8:09pm PDT marks the official start of fall -- when the sun begins moves southward, across the celestial equator.  During the equinox, the length of night and day around the world is nearly equal.

You'll start to notice the days growing shorter from now until the winter solstice, which falls on December 21st this year.

The 2010 Farmers' Almanac is predicting an "Ice Cold Sandwich" winter, with bitter cold in the central provinces, while the west and east coasts are expected to be more in line with normal temperatures.

In the meantime, it is the raking season, with leaves lining the sidewalk at the College of New Caledonia this afternoon ( at right).

Picture below shows the 'flower truck' that's been parked at the Tourist Information Centre at the corner of Highways 16 and 97 all summer.  The picture was taken on Monday, before our two cold overnight frosts.

Yes I am very glad that we get to see four seasons here in PG! Even if winter is a long one.
After living in PG for almost 50 years I live in Vernon now.

We get the 4 seasons here too... it's just that the colder ones are a little bit shorter, and I like that a LOT!

Still love PG though (Go Cougars)...

Yes!! I want to go south too. The winters are too long here. :-)
Sure we get 4 seasons but the only good one lasts about 3 weeks!
Which is, as we all know, the 'Lieberals' fault.
Ha Ha!!!! Good one weaksauce....
