Prince George, B.C.- Although the Premier has announced there will be a binding referendum on the HST on September 24th of next year, the Fight HST campaign says that’s not soon enough.
The Fight HST campaign wants the province to hold the vote before the end of this year and will be holding a rally on Saturday in front of MLA Pat Bell’s Prince George Constituency office to press their point.
“Waiting another year will just add to the economic uncertainty,” says Eric Allen, spokesperson for the Fight HST group in the Prince George – Mackenzie and Prince George – Valemount ridings.
“We need a clear question and a fair and timely referendum,” he adds, “If the government continues to stubbornly refuse to provide this, we will definitely be having recalls of MLAs across the province.”
The rally in Prince George is set to take place at 10 a.m. Saturday . Allen says the group will also be making a special announcement about it’s plans for the Prince George-Mackenzie, and Prince George Valemount ridings.
The Fight HST campaign has released a list which carries the names of 18 MLA’s who could be among the first to face recall. If people want to see a recall action in their particular riding, they will have to sign up to volunteer. The three ridings with the most volunteers as of November 15th, will see recall actions started in January.
