Prince George, B.C.- Prince George RCMP Detachment Superintendent Brenda Butterworth –Carr is not saying any more about the complaint against three of the officers in her detachment than has already been said. “The investigation is on going and it has to do with the care and handling of a prisoner.”
The Superintendent says she will not say anything more specific on the allegations which arose from something that happened  during  the booking of a female on August 27th for causing a disturbance. She says she is reluctant to release details of the allegation at this early stage in the matter  because she is concerned it may taint the investigation.
Superintendent Butterworth –Carr says after personally reviewing the video of the booking process of the woman, “on the surface, it would appear policy had been breached”.
The internal investigation is being handled by Sergeant Judith Johnson who is responsible for professional standards at the Prince George Detachment.
When asked why an officer from the same detachment is doing the investigation, Superintendent Butterworth-Carr says Johnson is relatively new to the P.G. Detachment, she transferred here about two months ago from the lower mainland “But I would have no problem at all in having someone from another detachment carry out this investigation.”
While the initial RCMP release on this issue indicated a complaint has been filed with and is under investigation  by the Commission for Public Complaints Against the RCMP, the CPC will neither confirm  nor deny that information.
