Williams Lake, B.C. – The severe flooding along the Highway 20 corridor has prompted the Cariboo Regional District to declare a local state of emergency in Electoral Area J.

The areas of Anahim Lake, Nimpo Lake, Charlotte Lake, Towdystan, and Ulkatcho are isolated due to flooding and road closures. Highway 20 is closed in both directions; 20 km east of Bella Coola to 15 km west of Anahim Lake at Louis Creek, and 45 km west of Tatla Lake because of wash out.

The CRD says it’s activated a level two emergency operations centre as a result.

An emergency social services centre has been set up in Williams Lake for residents affected by the washouts and flooding.

The CRD as asking residents to check the Drive BC website for updates about road closures.

For all other inquiries, residents can contact the Cariboo Regional District toll free at 1-888-592-3286 or 250-392-4283 or, visit the CRD website at www.cariboord.bc.ca

This rain should take care of the water shorted, hey!
Ya time for water meters....
I noticed last Friday you could walk across the Parsnip River with it maybe two feet deep in its deepest spot... almost a dried up river... then on Sunday it was over over flowing its banks up about ten feet from 48 hours earlier. Yet the other rivers in the area haven't changed much at all in their levels.... I think a lot of locallized events.
