Flipping in the Round-About

Prince George, B.C.-No one hurt, but  a  truck carrying a  garbage bin  was tipped on  to its passenger side wheels as it made the  turn in the  round-about at the north end of  the Cameron Street  Bridge.

The garbage was  dumped on the  north side of the Nechako Road exit.

This may be the first  crash to have  taken place in the round about  since  it was opened to traffic in the summer of 2009.

going to fast??
AND on the brickwork maybe?
And load shifted ........ not secured or not adequately secured ....
Inexperienced driver?
a dog ran in front of him? alcohol? he fell asleep? who needs an investigation? I think we have it all figured out.
Surprise! Nobody has mentioned Campbell yet!
its all Campbell's fault...haha
HST
lol seriously learn how to drive..what a idiot
We should probably blame the RCMP as well, I'm sure it's their fault.
PSSSSSST ...... and also no one blamed it on the roundabout design ...... I can distinctly recall that there were several who posted about the size being inadequate for the trucking traffic it gets.

I would not rule that out as a contributing factor.

On top of that, it was sunny, the trees were out with fall colours, and Hotel California was blasting away on the CD. :-)
i drive that everyday and to all you stupid idiots comming off the bridge you dont have right of way !! god damm oneday iam just going to ram one of these dorks
i blame mulrooney
I would like to see people using their turn signals so traffic can flow like it is supposed to. Also, I have seen many a commercial transport truck (from Pulpmill Road) drive right through when they don't have the right-of-way because they don't want to slow down. One of those idiots is going to kill someone. I've had some close calls with those trucks. Just because you're bigger doesn't mean you have the right-of-way.
Speculative Posters? Unless any of you were driving the truck or witnessed the incident, how the hell could you know what happened? All interesting and funny thoughts just the same. I like the driving on the brickwork one the best. I've seen that happen there myself, a lot of times. DAMN, there I go speculating. Shows what peer pressure can do to a person eh ? :-)
Signal when EXITING the circle.
Gus; Really! Design flaw. How can anything flip with the speed limit that is posted through the round a bout. Not buying it. Maybe not the best design but clearly driver error. Speed does kill. A major intersection with one minor accident in the past year. SUCCESS.
alex1212 actually the people coming off the bridge do have the right of way due to design flaw. Traffic circle's are suppose to have 4 opposite entries but they build this roundabout with a direct line from the Cameron street bridge to the hart highway exit. So aslong as there is no traffic to yield to there left they have the right to enter the circle. Although this is frustrating for the people on pulpmill road including myself there is nothing you can do about it. The funniest thing is at least once a week a driver stops in the roundabout to wave me in causing everyone behind her to slam on the breaks. Cracks me up how people can't figure something out so simple
All this stuff about right of way and design flaws...
Here's a concept:
Yield to traffic on your left as you are about to enter the roundabout. If there is no traffic, proceed at or below the posted speed limit. There are also signs there for those who are easily confused.

"...the first crash to have taken place in the round about since it was opened to traffic in the summer of 2009."
How'd you like to have that distiction amongst your trucking peers? He/she almost made it too!
Clearly this is the work of the GTS.
Damn those gangsters!
It was just a matter of time, the next one will be a fuel truck.
"How can anything flip with the speed limit that is posted through the round a bout"

We may have seen it with this one. Still, unless there is a mechanical failure, the driver was clearly driving with undue care and attention as well as with a speed exceeding the conditions of the vehicle and road.

The picture is a bit on the small side, but it appears that the bin is on its side with the trailer at about 60 degrees. That means that the connection of the bin to the trailer failed.

Signs for those who are easily confused ... LOL ....

At a time when one is confused, signs are not exactly the things that are going to make it less confusing in this case. This is a small roundabout that even at 20k an hour does not allow time for much further clarification if there is another vehicle in the roundabout or approaching the roundabout from the left.
-------------------------
The bridge must have been open for about a year now. It would be interesting to get some stats on traffic volume on the bridge as well as accident count at that intersection before the roundabout and with the roundabout as well as on the south side.
No Trailer there. Just a twisted frame.
Them unicorns are an occupational hazard... it must have ran up the hill and into the bush before anyone else seen it....
If you can not figure out how to drive on the roundabout or who to yield to then stay off of it!! yield to people on the left and and if someone enters before you do then they have the right of way! people on the cameron street bridge do not have the right of way automatically...it really isn't a hard concept if you have passed grade 2.
