Prince George, B.C.- Later this morning, Prince George Community Policing and B.C. Hydro will unveil two special  hydro boxes which have been  given a special wrapping to discourage vandalism.

Electrical boxes are often the target for nasty graffiti.

With some funding from City of Prince George Communities in Bloom Community Enhancement Grant and some dollars from B.C Hydro, the  boxes located at the corner of Massey Drive and Ospika and in front of the Four Seasons Pool on Dominion Street have been transformed.
They are now fully wrapped in a custom designed laminated cover which converts them into a piece of art.

Hope to see some photos posted here since I no longer live in PG.
You missed one. It's at the corner of Hwys 97+16, right by the Welcoome to PG sign. These look really good. I thought it was just to beautify ugly green boxes, but now that the anti-grafitti idea is tossed out there in the media, I hope that doesn't inspire exactly what it was meant to deter
I have seen two of these boxes. Definitely better than the old green.
Who is paying for this?
Could this be why my Hydro bill just went up?
And I personally think that if the taggers want to tag, this nice new facade isn't going to slow them down a bit. I think probably and new higher class of target...
Way to go to those involved on another pipe dream gone wrong?
In general it has been found that "true" graffiti artists will respect the work of others and leave them alone.

However, there might also be "true" vandals out there who do not care.

So, this might tell us how "civilized" the PG crowd with artistic itching to produce un-commissioned public art is.
Wow BCRacer, can you be any more negative?
negative? no
realist...yes
have lived in this town long enough that I have seen enough to make a realism call.
Another one I seen was the tunnel under highway 16...
community policing got involved on that one too, and the taggers hit it too, after the floods did....
....fact....
but for now the hydro boxes look better than the old green did
Good idea to "graffitti- ize the new Enbridge pipeline just to make people feel better?
Bright "green" idea for the city and tourism.
