Prince George, B.C.- The BC SPCA North Cariboo Branch is filled to “cat”pacity with kittens.
The local shelter is caring for more than 50 kittens and is urging members of the public  who are thinking about enriching their lives with a new feline family member to go to the shelter and have a look at the wonderful pets available.

"We've got long-haired kittens, short-haired kittens, black kittens, white kittens, brown kittens, tabbies, calicos and ‘torties’ galore," says branch manager Ann Gough .

The shelter's appeal comes at a time when the branch is dealing with an influx of kittens because of unwanted and abandoned litters.

Staff say it is very frustrating but  not uncommon to be greeted with a moving cardboard box when they arrive at the shelter in the morning.

The shelter hours of operation are Tuesday - Saturday 11:30- 5:30 and is located at 4011 Lansdowne  Rd.

Send them to Saskatchewan. They have a rat problem.
Send them to Victoria. They have a problem with feral rabbits on the UVIC grounds and a rat problem at the legislature.
We tried to get a cat from the spca last year. When they found out we lived on acreage and oh heaven forbid the cat will spend some time outdoors, we were refused... The spca really needs to give their head a shake - most of the cats downtown are left to run around the alleys all night anyway.
People who don't have their dogs/cats already sterilized need to utilize the SPCA spay/neuter clinic on queensway...that would be huge help if all pet owners were responsible.
I am lead to believe that chopped up cats make very good martin bait. Just rumor. Two things that might be interesting to the SPCA: Cats are nocturnal flesh eaters--they should be outdoors most of time. Stop treating animals like people because it makes you look very dumb.
If i were in charge...people who didn't spay and neuter their animals would be spayed and neutered.
Junco: A lot of the pet owners I know are dumber than their pets and they think that neutering kills their spirit.

Can you keep them on YOUR property, please?

These nocturnal flesh eaters creep about every night in our flower beds and garden, spraying on the bushes and leaving their stinking turds between the plants in the soft soil!

It's disgusting and a health hazard!

Too bad there aren't more cougars around so nature can take over and thin those pesky roof rats out a bit!
