City Launches Budget Consultation Process

Prince George, B.C. -  You are being invited to  have a  say in the  City of Prince George's budget process  before the final  budgets for 2011 are submitted.

The City of Prince George Finance and Audit Committee has launched the 2011 Budget Engagement process.  This will include a Committee of the Whole meeting, public open house an on-line survey, written submission form, email submission, and video submission.

"Throughout the myPG process, we were able to engage members of the community on a variety of topics and it was evident that many citizens wanted to become more involved in the City’s budget discussions," said Councillor Murry Krause, Chair of the Finance and Audit Committee. "We are encouraging the public to get involved in our budget engagement process and are looking forward to gathering community feedback."

The Finance & Audit Committee provides a forum for informal discussion of issues related to the City's Financial and Purchasing functions and to review the results of the City's financial auditing processes.

The 2011 Budget Engagement process will run from October 5-November 5, 2010. All submissions will be collected and reviewed by the City’s Finance and Audit Committee.

Budget consultation.... ah why don't we just increase the taxes!
Budget consultation? Isn't that where the city consults you with a mailed notice and an article in the newspaper that they're going to raise yer taxes? I think that can be construed as "consultation". Consultation a two way street? I don't think so.
