Williams Lake, B.C. – A total of 31 residents from Bella Coola who have been stranded in Williams Lake as a result of the flooding in the West Chilcotin and the Bella Coola Valley, have returned home.

The Smokey Forest Service Road detour route at McClinchey Creek, 30 km east of Anahim Lake, is now also open to commercial traffic. Motorists are encouraged to drive with caution and to watch for traffic control people. Work continues to upgrade the detour road to accommodate two-way traffic.

As there are no current Evacuation Orders or Alerts in effect, the Cariboo Regional District’s Emergency Operations Centre is now closed.
