Geez
"and Still in First place Prince George".
Becoming the Champ is the easy part, it will take some true dedication to keep us on top.
Well done RCMP.
Keep up the good work and stay safe!
When I passed by on the way to work at 7:40 this morning, everything is still taped off with the car sitting there. The doors and trunk left wide open, and only single cop cars with lights flashing to block off each side of Ospika near the area. I certainly didn't hear any sirens last night, nor was I informed of the danger. Are the houses near by safe?
I live nearby, and heard plenty of sirens last nite!
I would like to plead with the drivers of PG to remember that the detour goes through residential areas. Driving by Westwood School this morning, I was appalled. I am sorry that the detour is taking up a few extra minutes of your morning, but please, please slow down, and be respectful!! There are many children in this area. Running someone down will not get you there faster! Hopefully the RCMP resolve this quickly, and reopen the Ospika raceway.
There were sirens? Oops, guess I was too busy watching the hockey game to hear them last night.
VERY good advice about how fast people are driving through the Westwood school area. There are always lots of kids walking along the streets there on their way to school. Drivers do fly through there - some days I think the city should install speed bumps!
Seems to me that the Citizens of Prince George are always aware of what areas are being used as speed zones, why is it that the RCMP cant seem to set up some radar traps and get these speeder???? Is is because the speeding takes place between 6am and 9am and 4pm and 6pm. Is this the time the police are changing shifts, or just coming on shift????

People going to work on 97 South towards to BC Rail Industrial Park drive like maniacs. Not hard to catch these dudes, so whats the problem????

I'm really hoping that part two of this story doesn't read "After a court appearence the two males have been released on $500 bail and a promise to appear."
I guess the only fortunate part of this story is that these two morons didn't have two beer before being stopped and blow .05. not saying that I disagree with the new drinking and driving laws but seems to me that my tax dollars that are being used for our court systems would be better spent throwing the book at these true criminals instead of the average joe that has a couple of beers after work.
My children attend Westwood, and this morning during all the drama my kids had to wait for 22 vehicles before one would stop to let them cross the street. Another woman I know waited over 5 minutes to cross. Not to mention that I'm sure not one of them was going the 30km/h speed limit. What is wrong with the people in this city that they cannot obey speed limits, or stop at a crosswalk??! For the life of me though I do not understand why the RCMP would not have the detour go the other way through Residential rather than through the school zone.
I am very appreciative of the work the police did to resolve this problem, However next time use some common sense and don't send 80,000 speeding maniacs through our school zone, thanks.
I'd be more worried about why GTS members (so says word on the street) are in your neighbourhood with explosives.
I'm pretty sure the RCMP had the situation under control. I was VERY concerned about it, However if you have children you would understand why as parents we would be uneasy about idiots speeding through an area that over 200 children are in.
And pretty sure the GTS members were just driving down Ospika, it just so happens the boys in blue happened to stop them in this neighbourhood. If you read the news you would have seen that the police stopped them in a "routine traffic stop".
