A silver BMW  is parked on Ospika,  waiting for the  owner to retrieve it
Prince George, B.C
.- RCMP say the possible explosive device found in a vehicle on Ospika Boulevard last evening, turned out to be 4 pipe-bombs. “Three were live, and one was not yet complete” says RCMP spokesperson Gary Godwin.
Godwin says all four pipe bombs were taken by the Explosives Disposal Unit to a gravel pit outside City limits and detonated.
The silver BMW that  was the subject of the search was sitting at the side of the road jest prior to thel lunch hour.  Police say the vehicle is legally parked  and  police are waiting for the owner of the car to  retrieve it. Neither of the wo men arrested are the legal owners of the car,  Godwin says  the vehicle had not been reported stolen.
Two men, one aged 23 the other 33, remain in police custody and are facing a variety of charges.
Godwin says at this point, there is nothing to indicate there is any connection to gang activity although that could change as the investigation is ongoing.
The vehicle had been pulled over last evening for a traffic violation. Officers spotted what they believed to be stolen property and break and enter tools in the car. Further inspection of the car turned up the pipe-bombs.
The area was then cordoned off and police kept the area secure until the Explosives Disposal Unit arrived this morning from the lower mainland to deal with the bombs.
Traffic on Ospika has been restored to its normal flow.

It appears these young men took the Maclean's ranking to heart.
Nice Beemer. I guess the pipe bomb building business has been good to these young fellas.
???
Uhh, govsux; the article says it wasn't thier car?? Forget about gangs; are they linked to a terrorist group?
Policing is a dangerous job. We as the public need to get behind the RCMP a little more. They put their lives on the line daily. Pipe bombs for god's sake, would you want to deal with that in order to keep the public safe? A little less bashing might be in order. Not a perfect organization but what is? Where would we be without their presence?
To clarify, the bashing reference this isn't directed at the above posters but people in general who always have a negative to express when it comes to the police.
The RCMP shoulda had the Beemer towed to the Prince George Hotel, parked it on the side walk right next to the hotel and just waited.
Insane is what this is. What the hell is going on here.
People do make bombs and similar for entertainment as well. When i was a kid we would make crude bombs, napalm etc for fun. Looking back I'm glad none of us got hurt and if that were today CSIS would probably have shown up. These might have been weapons but also could be just for fun.
New word association game:

Prince George = crime city
BMW = tranportation for criminals
pipe bomb = terrorists' tool

Did you see the new sweat shirts on the streets? They have the following words on it:

"Prince George is #1" (McLeans)
Good job RCMP!!!
If crime is such a high priority for the RCMP why do I see 6 hidding in the bush catching speeders where there hasn't been any accidents. I.E. # 97 South near Pine Centre Mall. It's all about money nothing to do with catching criminals. Catching criminals costs money making criminals out of everyone makes money.
Lets see here, these guys have stolen goodies, bombs etc and the car is not impounded? What the hell?
If speeding was not a crime then whay are they stopping you and why should they only work where there has been an accident. Come on, it sounds like you might have a speeding problem.....which could make you a criminal. Slow down and let us all live.
How does getting a deserved speeding ticket make you into a criminal? Can you explain why you don't want society to function in a lawful manner, for the protection and safety of others? I also think it is stupid to keep speeding and then to be whining when getting tickets!

I am glad that the RCMP is doing its job!

Hmm; again, why wasn't the car impounded? It wasn't theirs. Does anybody actually read the articles prior to posting a message.

I also give kudos to the RCMP anytime a criminal is caught regardless of the manner. Criminals have far too many rights in our system.
I also think that people who make/transport pipe bombs should not be treated with kids gloves but they should be classified as domestic terrorists and have the book thrown at them to the extend that they don't see the outside from jail until 2035 - no time off for any reason! Better yet, send them to Guantanamo - it's still open!

Let's see if Harper's get-tough-on-crime talk is nothing but the usual election hype blabbering! What if that vehicle had exploded in a populated area and what were these criminals planning to do with the explosives anyways?

I don't understand why the car wasn't impounded as well, when someone is caught drinking and driving, regardless of who the registered owner is it is impounded for however long they were given i.e 24 hours 48 hours, 30 days, etc.....

so I would think that regardless of who was driving and who the registered owner is, considering what was found inside the vehicle, why wasn't it impounded??? hmm interesting
Just passed by the BMW at 4:45 pm, and someone has now smashed out the rear driver side window!! Now the owners will have to pay for it out of pocket.
The vehicle must be taken to a safe location to keep the predictable pack of night time prowlers from stripping it of everything valuable and only leaving an empty shell behind.

The more the police goes after the scums in the Greater Vancouver area the more of them show up here in P.G.

Too bad.

Kudos to the great men and women who work for the RCMP.
I was being sarcastic. If this car is not stolen, why is it not in impound? Mommy and daddy got pull? Is it a company car from IED Inc.? I thought if you lent someone your vehicle and it was used for wrongdoings it would be impounded. No? Just asking.
How does the owner know where the car is? Were those taken into custody allowed to contact the owner?

Does the owner live in Prince George or in Kelowna or the GVRD?

just a thought, but perhaps the RCMP are waiting for the rightful owner to pick up his/her car so that he/she may also be charged for something? Not sure? just a thougth. regardless glad those bombs didn't hit the street
Gawd! Some of you think you live in Shangra La, People speed, crime happens, double the cops and you still can't stop crime. Wake up! New criminals are born (and imported) daily.
Whoever the owner is, they have a broken back door window now. Noticed it as I drove past it during the deliveries.
Lets see....the car wasn't reported stolen but it's got pipe bombs and stolen property in it. I'm sure the RCMP called the owner when they found the bombs....and the owner still didn't pick it up.

I guess it's safe to say that the scum drug dealer that owns it isn't gonna be too worried about a broken window. Too bad it's only one.
