Dr. Richard Neale, former Gynecologist in Prince George is facing charges in the U.K.

A Gynecologist who worked at the Prince George Regional Hospital in the late 70's where one of his patients died following an operation,  is facing charges in the U.K.

Dr. Richard Neale was charged  and released on bail after 60 women had come forward to complain about his work.

Years ago,  Prince George Gynecologist Dr. Eldon Lee, described Neale as "Absolutely incompetent" after a Prince George woman, Joyce Kitchen, died following an operation at PGRH performed by Dr. Neale in 1978.   Neale was banned from working in British Columbia but surfaced a short time later in Oshawa , Ontario where 40 year old Geraldine Krawchuk , a mother of five, died from a drug overdose administered by Neale.

Prince George Obstetrician/Gynegologist Dr. Brain Galliford, who worked along side of Neale at Prince George Regional Hospital said, ”Some people should never be allowed to perform surgery, He was one of them “. Galliford added “He escaped being noticed in his field because he was, Mr.Smooth “

Neale was struck off the Ontario College in 1985 and then returned to England. There, he became a fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists based in London. In 1990 he became Director of the Hospital maternity ward at Friarage Hospital despite the hospital being told that he had been struck from the list in both BC and Ontario.

In 2000, the College of Physicians and Surgeons in the UK , struck Neale off the list for serious professional misconduct.

In 2001 the Crown told the UK courts that there was little hope of obtaining a conviction despite there being five cases of criminal recklessness and assault that had been levied against Neale.

In 2004 after an independent inquiry had been held at which 60 women appeared to give evidence into their own cases, the Yorkshire police announced they had re-opened the case.

Now,  after 29 years Dr. Neale, has been charged. He was arrested on January 20th. Given bail and ordered released. The exact nature of the charges is not yet clear, as that information has yet to be released.

Alright a local boy!
So, it's taken 29 years to finally deal with a serious problem in the medical profession. And what happens, he's given bail and ordered released.

What will you bet that this case will be thrown out? Let's face it, 60 women? Do you think that there would be a basis for a trial and conviction? Right, that's what I thought.

This person should have been banned from the Medical Profession worldwide. Why do we and the College of Physicians allow this to happen?

Why are we so afraid to stand up to people like this and bar them from the profession in the best interest of everyone?

Is it his fault? No, it's not, We are all to blame and it's all our fault for allowing this. Percy
It amazes me that if he was so incompetent why he was allow to practice anywhere. Surely there was a tracking system even back then. So I ask who were the real incompetent ones???
>"Is it his fault? No, it's not, We are all to blame and it's all our fault for allowing this. Percy "<

I was going to have a nice relaxing day, but now somebody is trying to bog me down with feelings of guilt!

I paid all my taxes, all my fees, all my premiums for every conceivable thing and I left it to the professionals in the respective government departments to look after things properly and to protect me and the rest of society from incompetent charlatans!

Obviously, they did noy do the job they were hired to do!

Do I feel guilty? NO. Not a bit.
Diplomat, I apologize. When I referred to "it's our fault" I was referring to the bleeding hearts, the chickens who refuse to stand up against this type of person and deal with him (Associations and Professional Body's who these Doctors should answer to).

These types of people and these types of situations are allowed to continue because we allow it to. We, as in everyone who is responsible. Percy
Percy, I recommend visiting the following site:

Since he apparently moved around quite a bit the system didn't keep track of him as efficiently as it might have.

There is a lot of inertia in our society to the detriment of us who trust that proper supervision and procedure is followed.
