The theme of last night's Awards Gala at the Civic Centre

Prince George, B.C. - It was a record-breaking evening for the 2010 Business Excellence Awards Gala...

Prince George Chamber of Commerce CEO, Jennifer Brandle-McCall says 430 people came out to the black-tie affair, wrapping up Small Business Week and marking the Chamber's biggest event of the year.

Brandle-McCall says, "We have never received so many nominations (for the awards), we have never had so many people attend the Business Excellence Awards, and we have never had more reason to celebrate the success of our business community.

She says there were 15 awards handed out in categories ranging from the prestigious 'Business Person of the Year', which was shared by Brian and David Fehr, to the coveted 'Customer Service Award', which was won by Spruce Capital Feeds.

"The theme of last night's Awards Gala at the Civic Centre"

Two gun wielding shady characters. One with a silencer.
Why would they use such Liberal like characters as a theme?

Because they are in the business to kill.

BTW, my first reaction as well. Just did not want to post it. A really dumb theme. Another one of these small town characteristics that pops up every now and then.
Then again, perhaps it fits with being the crime capitol of Canada.
With the words, "License to do Business" shouldn't there have been "plus HST" in brackets under those words? The real message is in the details.
I think the message could have been delivered without guns. In this day and age I think more thought could have been put into it.

Congrats to all the winners.
Because prince george businesses will rob you blind.
IE: granite countertops.
There is a busniess in town that installs them and charges outrageous prices....can get just as good quality and intallation from the south for half the price.
I attended the event and found it to be classy - but a bit too long at 6 hours. The 007 theme was not about crime or guns and some posters are making something from nothing (you should go work for the media!!)

For those that did attend - what did you think of the lady's address from CMO? A tad bit uncomfortable for everyone? Did she lose her husband and was now inviting him to come back home??

Six hours? Nothing classy about six hours either, if I may be so bold as to put that notion forward. To expect people to sit at an event such as that without having to be placed into the awkward situation of having to leave earlier for whatever reasonable reasons one may have and thereby be seen by others as not giving deserving people the respect they ought to be given just because they were on stage late in the game is, in my world of etiquette, totally unacceptable and disrespectful of both those who are recognized on stage, those giving presentations and those in the audience.

Perhaps it is time to take a page from some of the longer awards ceremonies such as the Oscars and divide it up by organizaing separate specific events based on categories and then announcing the winners during a short session at the main event.

CMO? Chief Marketing Officer? Council of Municipal Operators? College of Midwifes of Ontario?
"The 007 theme was not about crime or guns and some posters are making something from nothing"

May I ask a stupid question please without getting shot?

Since you were there, LoveTheNorth, waht excatly was the 007 connection to the business recognition event, the chamber, the City of Prince George or even the regions around the city that businesses here might serve.

I am kind of at a loss to figure that one out and would love some help.
The event was a celebration of business in our great city.....not about crime or guns.

It is not a story.

Nothing more, nothing less.
CMO was the business who sponsored an award. CMO Data Systems I believe.
Never heard of the guys who won the business person of the year "Brian and David Fehr".

Anyone know of these guys.
How can 2 guys win 'BUSINESS PERSON' of the year? Now they're really getting off track as well as stupid.
Yeah, the whole thing seems like a pretty lame deal. I'm supposing the awards version of 'advertorial.' The shadowy figures with guns, as a graphics choice is pretty out there. Probably thought of by the same person who ok-ed the giant, glowing, sign on Victoria St by the car wash.
First off let me congradulate all the award winners. There are many businesses in our lovely city that put every effort possible into outstanding preformance. The winners on Saturday are but a few of the sucessful and honest business people in this town. If we all support good business, good business practices and good client services, we can make our town a destination and be certian everyone will be treated fairly.
I guess there are no James Bond fans hanging out in the Opinion250 peanut gallery.
Fehrs are brothers from vanderhoof who run a industrial construction company, own a couple of sawmills and few other interests in the region.
The Fehr brothers own Bid Group (including Deltech Manufacturing) and have operations throughout northern BC. They have quietly grown their company over the last 30 years and now see revenues of over $100 million a year. Along the way they have given back to the communities in which they work without ever asking for recognition or thanks. How many other PG or Central Interior businesses can say that? They deserve this long-overdue recognition.
