WOW not a 100 dollar ticket..shes lucky it wasnt a speeding ticket or she would have some serious problems on her hand
A ticket? That's it? This is the kind of driver that should have his / her license revoked for life.
Wait until she gets a call from a lawyer. Hope the driver paid for extra liability insurance.
Should be a criminal offense!! I would call that Driving without due care and attention. Vehicles are required to stop at all crosswalks and give pedestrians the Right of Way.
Hmmm, I guess the incident was completely the drivers fault. No chance the boy did anything wrong I'm sure. Never seen a young person suddenly bolt out in front of a moving vehicle at any time, whether it be in a patking lot or crosswalk. Yup the driver solely at fault here. Case closed, guilty as sin!
you do have a point there Dragon Master. See them kids leaving PGSS to cross Massey to go to Pine Center.

The whole world needs yeild to their needs, no wonder their useless when they enter the work force. Yep, its our education system that keeps telling them they can be anything they want to be.

Drivers should be intelligent enough to expect a person to step off the curb and onto the road at a crosswalk.
LOL! True faxman but there is no information that states exactly why or how this kid was hit. I was making a point. Everyone above assumes it was the drivers fault with out knowing a pinch about what exactly happened. Just because someone is hit in a crosswalk doesn't mean they have no fault.
We should be saying:"what a shame; a young boy hit by a van and the driver is equally devastated." Accidents happen and sometimes no one is at fault. That's why they are called 'accidents'. I hope they are both OK and no one gets a fine.
good the boy was not hurt more seriously. why is the driver in question referred as "she" while the article does not mention the sex of the driver? Bloggers assuming femail drivers are worst than male drivers?
Dragon, the story says the driver was ticketed for not yielding to a pedestrian. Clearly the driver was at fault. There you go.
In reality that means squat! There you go.
This is Ridiculous, honestly it is a CROSS-WALK which requires the vehicle to stop and give the pedestrian the right of way to walk across the street CAREFULLY. I cannot believe the amount of people who don`t stop as i`m walking across the cross-walk. Clearly if other cars are stopped than be aware and look out to see that there are people crossing the street, but no . Most vehicles don`t stop and cut right in front of you, and this is what happens this poor young boy gets hit by a vehicle with his MOTHER by his side. People driving the streets of PG , common! look out while your driving pay attention, what if this was your child who got hit by a oncoming vehicle. Start driving more carefully and be aware!!
