Prince George, B.C.- An application  to have the City of Prince George   produce more documents in the case involving   Brian Skakun has been dismissed.
Judge Kenneth Ball said while he intends to issue a fully detailed set of reasons, in the interests of moving the trial forward, he is accepting the arguments put forth by the City’s lawyer, Barry Williamson.
Williamson argued the defense was on a fishing expedition and wanted to "turn City Hall on its head and shake out every document in a fruitless search".
Skakun is accused of breaching the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act in relation to the release of the confidential Heller report.
Crown expects to start calling witnesses at 1:30 this afternoon.

This is so strange , this should not even be in Court, talk about a fishing expedition and fruitless. We support you Brian.
Two comments have been deleted. Please remember this is a trial.. Mr. Skakun is innocent until proven guilty. We cannot allow comments which presume otherwise.

Just a reminder that there are whistleblower processes in place. In fact, such actions are encouraged as far as I can tell.

Those who take on that role are, of course, not the best liked people by those who feel they have a right to do what they do.

Here is a list of some from the BC Freedom of Information and Privacy Association.

Makes for some interesting reading. Keep an open mind.

Fer cry'in out loud Jon, stop showboating, all yer do'in is frustrating the Judge.

And thanks Elaine, you'd think some people watch too much U.S. court TV.
Brian you need to run for mayor.
I know 3 ppl in this that will vote for you.
Did anyone else notice that the Citizen in it's front page story of the Skakun trial probably had more words in it than their total coverage of the BCR trial. Gotta tell you something. This whole affair makes me think that maybe Brian is doing too good of a job and has POd the powers behind city council.
I support Brian Skakun from what I see of this so far. This is a frame up manufactured controversy to discredit a good politician from my opinion.
I suspect he doesn't fit the vision of this council. This releasing info is a misdemeanor and punishable by 2000.00 dollar fine. What does it matter except that the public assumes a conspiracy is unfolding and also assume Brian innocent? The citizens of PG believe their municipal government to be just as corrupt as Gordon Campbell. Doesn't matter what the court outcome is because he will be re-elected with a majority of votes. I find it suspicious that Munoz and Brians relationship was considered 'close'(PG Citizen) and she was apparently the whistle blower. Says a lot.
