"Knitty but Nice"  hand knit hats  are  creative and fun.

Prince George, B.C.- The annual craft fair at the University of Northern B.C. wrapped  up day two today, and it was busy, but not  nearly as crazy  as it was Saturday afternoon.   Those with booths say  Saturday  was shoulder to shoulder.

The annual event brings together some of the best  artists and crafts people in the  region.

Home made jellies, jams,  hand woven scarves, socks, vests and tapestries,   turned wood products,   folk art painted  items,   hand made jewellery from tumbled  stones,  or  bent  silver cultlery,  the annual   fair offered it all.

At right,  Elmer Gunderson and one of his creative carvings,

below,  Laura Ejack shows Hazel Seamen some of her  creative  handbags.

I was there, had a great time.
my wife was there, 90 bucks for a wooden bowl.
$90 for a wooden bowl? That's less than minimum wage!!!

1. Find the wood

2. cut it into blocks

3. dry it for a year

4. turn it

5. travel to fall fairs

6. rent the booth

7. buy or make the display system

8. sit for hours at this fair and that fair

9. pay for HST

Of course you can always buy the seasoned blocks at Windsor Plywood and pay the, $35 for the block of wood.
Oh, did I mention discarding blocks that crack duering seasoning?

Oh, and taking classes to learn how to turn wood.

Oh .. and buy chisels and a lathe and a table for the lathe.

Oh, ans setting aside part of the house for this "hobby".

The list goes on and on.

$90 is a bargain.

Then again, the one from Thailand costs $30 and comes with a set of salad forks :-)
So Gus,

Bitter

Some what bitter

Or Extremely bitter
The suply of bowls exceeded the demand.
The suply of bowls exceeded the demand.
Huhh? Do you walk into a clothing store, then walk back out after half an hour of looking through articles of clothing and buying one or two and then say to yourself, "the supply of clothing exceeded the demand?"

Most people who make products keep an inventory available so that customers have a selection they can choose from. Based on sales, they then will likely realize that they will make more of those items they sell that sell the best. Until they decide to quit, they would typically have more than they sell at any venue unless the item is in extremely high demand and the supply is sold out.

Next week the same individuals will likely be at Studio Fair. Then after that at one or more of the Xmas fairs at the schools. The successful ones may even go to similar events in other communities.
I do not eat wooden bowls, he spoke. I suppose they would be bitter.
