Prince George, B.C. -  Two Williams Lake residents were among the provincial honourees, as Rich Coleman announced the 12th Annual Solicitor General Crime Prevention and Community Safety Awards.

Dave Dickson became the Safer Communities coordinator in Williams Lake upon his retirement and has been instrumental in establishing a number of community policing programs, such as: Business Watch and Downtown Closed Circuit Television.  He's also been the driving force in increasing the number of volunteers for Mounted Citizens on Patrol to approximately 225.  Dickson has been awarded one of two individual Crime Prevention and Community Safety Awards.

And Sandra Hawkins has received the Volunteer Award for her efforts in training approximately 250 community justice facilitators, since becoming Community Justice Forum facilitator in 2000.
