The AiMHi team of Matthew Brewer, Wayne Tom, Heather Groleau and Marc Lawrence, leave Prince George this morning to join 39 climbers from around the province on a trip to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro.
The group of climbers consists of people with developmental disabilities, and their supporters. They will take part in a 9 day trek to the summit of the African peak (19,341 feet), a climb for which they have trained nearly a year.
The group says its goals are three fold, to raise public awareness, to raise funds to enhance services and programs in the community and most importantly, to support people with "developmental disabilities achieve an enormous mission, sending a message worldwide that anything is possible."
