Prince George, B.C.- The Salvation Army has delivered its kettles to stores and sites throughout the City of Prince George as the annual Kettle Campaign is about to get underway.
This year, the campaign will start tomorrow, a full five days earlier than normal.
Campaign coordinator Wayne Wood says the goal this year is $250 thousand dollars, that’s up $12 thousand from last year’s total collected amount of $238 thousand. “We don’t like to put a dollar figure to our goal, we only pray that we will collect enough to help all the families who need assistance” says Wood.
This year will be difficult says Wood as the line ups at the food bank are longer than ever.
Because the campaign is starting a little early there is a need for extra volunteers. “We have much of the December schedule filled in already” says Wood, “but there are still lots of gaps for November and we really need some help.”
Anyone wanting to volunteer some time to attend one of the kettles, can call 250-564-4000 extension 224. If your call isn’t answered today, leave a message as Wayne may be out making sure the kettles are ready to go. He will call you back later today if he misses the first call.
