Prince George, BC – The Telus promotion that is aimed at raising dollars for the  restoration work to Cottonwood Island Park raised $144,500.

The promotion involved Telus donating $100 from every new Prince George area Telus TV subscription to the Cottonwood Island Restoration project, specifically, the construction of the Cameron Street replica biridge. The year long fund raiser ended October 14th.

"Cottonwood Island Park is an integral component to our community that is enjoyed by citizens and visitors of all ages," said Mayor Dan Rogers. "We're extremely pleased to have had so many partners contribute to the effort to restore and enhance this natural jewel in our city and it was particularly rewarding to have TELUS come to the table in such a strong way.”
Park restoration is slated for completion later this month. An official celebration event will take place in the spring of 2011.
The Cottonwood Island fundraiser now over, Telus is shifting its focus to a new fundraiser, a year long effort to raise funds for the Cancer Society’s Northern Lodge.

This will be interesting launch of the trestle bridge, Never seen anyone launch a trestle bridge..... successfully.
I am wondering if, on the next flood, is Quesnel going to be enjoying the new bridge?
I hope it doesn't deteriorate as fast as the old ,New, deck did.
