MacKenzie-  RCMP Detachment is currently on the scene of a fatal motor vehicle collision on Cicada Road at Highway #39 within the city limits.

The crash was reported at approximately 3:00 pm this afternoon and reportedly involves an SUV and a commercial transport truck.

 

Investigators from the Prince George Regional Provincial Traffic Services Unit in Prince George are at the scene to assist in the investigation.

 

The Collision Reconstructionist has been called and is enroute from Williams Lake.

 

A Commercial Vehicle Enforcement officer has also been requested to attend the scene.

 

Details of the collision remain sketchy at this time. The investigation is in its infancy and it will take time for all the investigators to become fully involved in the follow-up.

 

It would appear the police are currently dealing with what would appear to be a head-on collision between the SUV and the commercial transport and the scene is occupying the entire highway.

 

One person in the SUV has has died , while the driver of the commercial transport was treated at the scene for minor injuries. The extent of his injuries are unknown at this time.

 

Weather and road conditions are not believed to be contributing factors at this time.
