Prince George, B.C.- It could be 10 tonight  before  power is  fully restored in the Prince George region.

B.C Hydro’s Bob Gammer says  the winter storm that hit the region  today brought down trees on to wires, and in some cases the wires hit the ground.

At the worst of the outage,  7,600 customers in Prince George were without power.  Gammer says that number has been reduced to 1,300  “We had a planned outage in the Chief Lake road area for today and expected that outage to be about 5 to 15 minutes, but the storm brought down a tree on to a wire and that outage was stretched to five hours.”

At the peak of the storm, there were eleven thousand customers from Haida Gwaii to  Valemount  without power, most in the Prince George region.  In Mackenzie, there are still 11 hundred customers without power.

Gammer says  B.C. Hydro crews and  contractors will work up to 16 hours straight before  taking a mandatory 8 hour beak and then will get back at it.  There are also contracted crews working to restore power.

My guys just came back from Mackenzie. They were saying that trees were snapping off like tooth picks. Mostly beetle kill, but it was a mess.

Heck of a storm Good work BC Hydro!
I suggest hydro remove all trees that threaten power lines.
Uh ervboy Hydro does that but they tend to grow back, and there is thousands of miles of power lines. Also the fiberals have just about busted Hydro.
